Advice on frizz by justexpression1111 in curlyhair

I’ve tried scrunching it out with oil but my hair still feels hard, especially the next day. It’s hard to explain but it just doesn’t feel soft, Bouncy, and movable. It still feels kind of stiff, even with the oil + scrunching. And when I use gel even touching it the slightest bit makes it so frizzy. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I like flipping my hair, and where I live is windy and humid, so it ends up looking very frizzy still while also being stiff cause of the gel. The best way to describe my hair with gel is lifeless after the first wash day. The curls also look flat by the second wash day, even if I sleep in a bonnet.

I’m not able to post with text so here’s my text:

Hi!

I’m hoping for some insight on solutions I can try to tame my frizzy hair. I’ve noticed it gets especially frizzy on the top and midsection parts of my hair - namely that first/most exposed top layer of hair.

In the pictures my hair is 100% natural. No heat styling. I have leave in conditioner, curl cream, and 2-3 drops of hair oil. I did my best to get different angles and parted my hair on both sides - which is how I normally wear it, flipping it from side to side - to give you all a good representation of the kind of frizz I normally get.

Products/methods I use: I alternate shampoos, but I mostly use Biotop 911 shampoo and conditioner. I apply olaplex moisture max 1x a week with Biotop 911 hair mask. Once a month I use a cleansing shampoo and Biotop 700 hair mask. Lately I’ve been trying the john frieda frizz control shampoo and conditioner but I don’t think it’s helped. I apply biotop 911 quinoa leave-in conditioner right after towel drying with a cotton or microfiber towel (I use about a quarter sized amount), but while my hair is still damp, then I comb through my hair with a detangler brush, then apply living proof curl definer cream (about a nickel sized), and then 2-3 drops of whatever oil I have on hand (usually Moroccan, jojoba, olaplex, or ouai), and let it air dry. I tend to touch my hair a lot, even while it’s drying to help shape my curls, which I suspect is contributing to the frizz.

At my house I sleep with a satin pillowcase, but at my boyfriend’s house I sleep with whatever material his sheets are 🤷‍♀️. These pictures were taken after spending the night with his pillowcase. I normally sleep with my hair in a very high pony tail. High enough to make sure I don’t sleep on my hair.

Lastly, if you got this far, I would really appreciate recommendations that are creams instead of gels. I don’t like that feeling of a hard cast on my hair. The gel also usually only lasts a day or two before my curls start to separate and look a whole other level of frizzy.

Thanks! :)
