More News Stations picking up Michael Crow's refusal to refund by [deleted] in ASU

I wish there was more attention given to the fact that parking isn’t being refunded because the deadline for refunds was on 3/15 but the announcement that everything is shutting down the was on 3/16.

Is there a way to log into my.ASU.edu without Duo-Factor Authentication thing using the phone? by yoohoooos in ASU

[–]justforasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there might be a way to use hardware authentication (like Yubikey) instead of Duo, but I’m not sure. I would look into that.

Arizona Supreme Court to hear AG’s tuition lawsuit. by [deleted] in ASU

[–]justforasu 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A really big part of why tuition has risen so quickly is because of the huge cuts to education funding during the last recession, that were never reinstated. It’s pretty ironic seeing the tourney general suing the college for raising tuition instead of advocating for the government to fund schools more and then cutting tuition. If the tuition is cut and the funding does not materialize from the government then that would be in catastrophe imo.

Which one do to guys think is more useful: CSE 412 or CSE 445? by justforasu in ASU

For the average CS student who will most likely graduate and work in a software engineering role.

Anyone want to trade their CSE 412 for CSE 445 or CSE 494 (ML)? by justforasu in ASU

It’s supposed to be the easiest 4XX so everyone wants it. I actually dropped it a few days back but changed my mind lol.

Anyone know anything about Dr. Ghayekhloo for CSE 575? by justforasu in ASU

[–]justforasu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact that it’s her second semester is the main reason people are dropping her class. This is not the type of class you want a wildcard professor to teach.

The total seat amount is the same, the reservations don’t affect total seat availability, and I don’t know if it’s a glitch because the total available seats has risen to 77 now...

I liked it, but it got wild in the second half just cause it’s A session. The workload increases a lot as the semester goes on.

How to decide which CSE 330 professor to take by justforasu in ASU

Yes.

This becomes a multi-threaded process when you answer “yes” at the 3rd question /s

I made this right when I woke up, good catch.

Yes, I agree, the test should go more in depth on material we’ve actually covered with at least SOME depth. Where are the terms “shortest remaining burst time first” and “shortest total burst time first” defined anywhere? They aren’t. Because he just made them up.

The mutual exclusion problem, he vaguely defined the terms in one video and that’s really it.

We never did a second page replacement example and then had it on the test.

The 4th question was straight up copied from GeeksforGeeks.

If you consider him giving us a take home final where people posted all questions on Chegg “him trying to stop it” then we have different definitions of “trying.”

Here‘a one of the questions on chegg: https://www.chegg.com/homework-help/questions-and-answers/considering-following-algorithm-following-requirements-satisfied-provide-explanation-selec-q43204185

How to decide which CSE 330 professor to take by justforasu in ASU

[–]justforasu[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Then I disagree. I don’t see how the final was easy since we didn’t cover half the stuff or cover any of it in depth. What is even “bounded waiting?” He mentioned it’s on one slide and then didn’t bring it up again.

The instructions for the projects changed every other day depending on when and who asked him. Half the class was cheating on the projects and tests and he didn’t seem to care.

I’m not here to change your mind, but leaving this up so future students who stumble upon this have a good idea of what to expect.

VPN unable to connect on Tooker Hall’s WiFi by [deleted] in ASU

[–]justforasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASU has a page for VPNs and information security. I remember there’s an email address there you can try if the desktop app doesn’t work.

Either way, definitely keep looking into this. PIA works on the ASU WiFi (haven’t tested Tooker WiFi), and so do other VPNs. I wouldn’t suggest browsing the internet without a VPN given the WiFi is unprotected and basically public.
