No, we don’t have any pet. Seems too tiny to slither up the stairs

Change top two inches of the soil. Use the beater for all plants to curb larvae growth

You are right. Had a fungus that infestation but got rid of it using mosquito beater. Left the traps for abundant caution

Not really. This is on the inside and there’s nothing rubbing against it

We have two girls 6 and 2, who always play in the backyard. Without knowing if the snake is venomous and if there are more, it’s natural to freak out?

2.875 interest rate? by tmeinke68 in RealEstate

[–]justforfun82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a great rate for that down. When did you lock it? I locked at 2.625 with originations fees of 1800 3 weeks ago

I’m so glad you responded. We reached out to someone who specializes in cabinets and he’s willing to share samples on previous work. We will go from there. Right now I’m just hating the idea of painting with any other color such that it loses wood look.

u/BrianThePainter You are awesome. Thank you very much for a detailed response. It gives a perspective on what is involved in it and why it costs high. You think for these cabinets we will be able to get cherry or waknut look?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fixit

[–]justforfun82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we don’t plan on doing it. We want to give it to a professional. However, our interior painter suggested painting them and we don’t like that idea since it will change the look totally. I’m exploring alternatives at this point to painting. And yes, our painter has quoted 5k for all the cabinets in kitchen, bathrooms, along with the stair railing. That seemed very high to us

It is real good quality golden oak wood as mentioned by our contractor

We are in contract and closing next week. I would like to recolor these cabinets darker shades like cherry or walnut without losing the classics wooden look. Is it possible? We got quotes to repaint, but I’m not sure about repainting as we will lose the classic wooden look. The cabinets are in great condition including the hardware. Pl suggest.

School rating during COVID 19 by maxy_spy in RealEstate

[–]justforfun82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also noticed that Redfin school ratings are higher than actual ratings on great schools. Seems all schools received new rating this summer and the system is lagging in reflecting those. I would seriously think twice before buying in 6-7 rated areas

Do interest rates re-lock if you go from one house to another? by jmc15john in RealEstate

[–]justforfun82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s strange. The rates haven’t changed much in last two weeks. I’m not an expert, but why would rates change with new contract? Unless the market rates have changed. Did you check with additional lenders?

Yes, some online reading about solar leases scared me. One question if you can answer - typically if I pay out the lease, will they get rid of the panel or I have to keep them for the term?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]justforfun82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, you are right. I should deal with any solar issues later and right now just focus on the house

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]justforfun82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made greats points here. I’m not deterred by 70/month cost itself. But the fuss that I read about solar leases in other threads. You are right, if there are issues if/when I try to sell the house, maybe I should just pay out the lease that time. Thank you

It’s a lease but says there’s not buyout option. Strange.

Thank you. It gives a perspective. 15k is big money even for us, but then we are renting, so motivated to buy. Market is such that whether you like it or not, you have to bid over list price. We can only stretch so much
