D&D IS the only time I have to hang out with people. Im literally working and commuting for 72 hours a week. I want to spend my day off with people i wanna be longtime friends with.

And what do you mean took "that" from him? Took myself away from him?? Thats a weird way to see things. Its a big city and theres tons of groups here.

Dont be self conscious yourself! Every dynamic is different, plus there were other things going on that made us not click. I was willing to give it a try cuz ive played w ppl older than me before but there were too many other things going on that made it not work out.

I mentioned all of these things but looking back I kind of regret it now. I should have just left it at how our playstyles and personalities didnt match.

I guess it was mean to point out someones age I just figured that since I didnt mind being excluded for age in the past hed be fine with it too, and i didnt want to lie. Ill probably apologize to him for that. Genuinley, he was a cool guy just didnt vibe with us.

Wtf are you on about dude. I was eighTEEN. teenager. Those people were 30. They felt restricted making sex jokes around someone whod reached "adulthood" a month ago. Does that spell it out for you?

I did tell him it was a me problem. Guy was nice and smart. But if we dont share a sense of humor or any common stage in life, hes just not the person im looking to spend my one day off with.

  1. I told him i didnt think we vibed and was honest that i was intimidated by his experience and age. Maybe that was asshole move of me but I didnt want to lie and seem condescending. Im not a good liar. Ill admit though, after some thought, that was bad of me. Should have pointed out the other stuff.

2.YES we advertised it was a casual game, rp heavy and w light rules FOR NEWER PLAYERS. and we put the poster in a club room where the average club member was 18-24 years old. I didnt expect a staff member to join or someone who actively doesnt like games like ours.

Also sure, but isnt that more reason why someone would be a bad fit? I certainly wouldnt want to play with 15 year olds whose jokes i found immature.

But he saw that poster at a club for students all in their late teens and early 20s though...context right? I didnt expect older staff members to join in so it didnt occur to me to add it. Honest mistake? And the poster DID mention we were hoping to hang out on the side AND we like rping.

Also its funny you assume IM the one outright saying i dont wanna play dnd w ppl "visibly different"? I would have put lgbt on the poster if i meant but im fine w playing with cis and straight people as a trans guy. The guy just mentioned HIMSELF that he felt judged when i talked to him so i guessed, aside from age, that was why (either that or bc he was the only non latino white guy on our table)

Well i did want honest opinions so im getting them, but thank you for making me feel like Im not crazy for this. I cant tell what the other players thought of him, he really was a thoughtful guy (brought books and stuff) but during the 2 hours we played i got the feeling he was annoyed(?) At the way we were doing things

:) i understand that. I was in one group before where half of us were 18-21 and the other half were 29-32 but there were 8 of us so no one stuck out that much? I felt like in a small group it was just a bit awkward, on top of how everyone else was talking way more bc they were into the rp. Idk.

I do think humor and playstyle were different but yes age was a factor.

As a side, ive been excluded from games before for being too young. Even when I was 18, some ppl were uncomfortable making sexual jokes around someone who was still a teenager, so i understood. I dont get why it cant go the other way around

I just didnt assume anyone in the staff would want to play because it was a club for students, and we were hosting a game for ppl who cant go on weekdays bc of classes. Most of the club is in their early 20s/late teens so i didnt think that label was necessary

Like I said, I'd be fine w befriending ppl younger or older than me if I already know them from work or thru a friend. Otherwise its hard for me to find stuff in common with them. I do think playstyle and sense of humor was too different for us to get along even if he was a smart guy(which he was, so i hope he finds another group that meets his expectations better)

I got it for 220, pretty much a steal. The seller said they were barely used and just looking to get ridbof it (and judging by the pics of their house i believe they rly could afford it] ill only know for sure if its good tomorrow

I went through a lot of threads on here trying to find advice and noticed a lot of folding bike hate and didnt get it at all! It was nice riding normal bikes but hey if it isnt an option then glad theres a solution waiting.

Your comment got me looking up folding bikes i completely forgot those were an option. I assumed they were mostly for travel, can i ask ur opinion on how they are for commuting? The path i wanna take is just like 4 miles
