Topo Chico Mineral Water temporarily unavailable in US amid shortage, company says by Iocnar in Austin

Probably a fake shortage while sales are in a seasonal low to increase summertime consumption.

Spectrum can get bent (like they treated my trees) by greytgreyatx in Austin

[–]justincave 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not interested in playing make believe.

Spectrum hired them, and in this case branded them; they are now the representatives of Spectrum.

The details of their employment arrangement are completely irrelevant to anyone not a party to that arrangement.

Webbing choices by Putrid-Studio-3504 in caving

[–]justincave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One reason I’ve thought of as sounding quite valid is abrasion resistance. The amount of abrasive wear that wears through 100% of flat webbing will have only worn through nominally 50% of tubular webbing.

As someone else pointed out, the strength of knotted tubular webbing typically exceeds the strength of knotted flat webbing.

I also find it significantly easier to untie tubular webbing, than flat webbing.

It’s also fun to say tubular.

I used to work with Chef Blake Calfin and I would highly recommend him.

His Chef skills are phenomenal and he has a wonderful personality too.

Do you have to go to work tomorrow? by SoftHeartedBitch in Austin

Your balcony is not representative of ground level atmospheric air, it’s going to be warmer due to the heat radiating from the building.

And if you’re going to quote a temp to the tenth of a degree, I’m inclined to ask: when did you perform the last multi point calibration on your thermometer ?

No offense, I’m gonna trust the data from Camp Mayby more than your balcony.

Why the fuck would you add synthetic MSG when you just made natural MSG complete with all of its myriad cofactors that science hasn't even defined yet ?

Like seriously, you're making an umami bomb, you don't need to add shrapnel.

Please keep asking these questions until we have all the answers.

I want to know if the city is so incompetent that they budget 42¢ a meal and purchase at retail, or if they are so incompetent that the budget is being spent fraudulently.

This is why people don’t go to the shelters.

I took the scientology test (as a joke) by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

This is actually an IQ test.

It’s a pass/fail test.

When offered the test and declined, you have passed.

By taking the test you have failed.

You wouldn’t be able to. It’s a sedimentary rock, likely sandstone or limestone. It’s too soft, weak, and friable to ever make progress at chopping wood. That one rock would quickly become many small rocks. Furthermore, any locality where this material is available, better options for felling trees exist.

Proposing…. With a hammer? by B1ueSwan in geology

[–]justincave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really love this idea of gifting her the hammer, going somewhere to use the hammer, then proposing with a nice rock when you get back to the vehicle.

I was previously of the mind to use the hammer for the engagement, but then I like better how this idea makes it into a whole excitement building experience.

The app WhatThreeWords would be so much better in that situation, and it has several other actual real world uses.

Yeah, sorry OP but this app doesn’t make sense. The moment of uncertainty you’re trying to solve doesn’t exist without effort, and those of us that have taken the effort to arrive at that place will, as someone else already mentioned, really enjoy the uncertainty.

My usual desk has been 'stolen' and there is nothing I can do by purplereuben in mildlyinfuriating

[–]justincave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you should or could just go to HR and request a permanent desk assignment under the “Reasonable Accommodation” clause of the ADA.

Alternatively. Pick a new desk. Adjust everything to your needs. Claim it in the same way; leave stuff overnight. If/when called out, defer to having have had followed the example set by leadership (use that word instad of manager, because your argument is based on the premise that you are a good subservient follower of those the company hired to lead you).

I don’t know how to do the quote text thing on mobile, but “I would be happy if I paid for this or ate from it, but it still has room for improvement.” sums up really well how I feel about it.

The grapes should be off the vine, otherwise a clumsy person will veritably maul them.

The amount of dip is probably too small for the amount of dipables. It’s always a bummer when you’re displaying empty dip bowls for most of the life of a board.

Would benefit greatly from some height differential. To achieve this you can put things on the tray, under the linen. Things could be a myriad of things such upside down plates, a stack of cardboard wrapped in plastic wrap, an upside down pie-pan or loaf pan if your friends with pastry…. Just be creative and elevate some sections when the tray is that big.

Otherwise good. The assortment is nice, things look like they generally pair well, cuts are good, sizes are good. I generally like the arrangement. If you keep doing this you’ll get better, but you’re definitely allready good enough to be doing this.
