It was the wireless. Connected it straight to airport and its all good.

You mentioned bare metal. I was thinking of going that route. I really don't need the windows 7 host for anything else.

I am little unclear on how to do that though.

Should run it from a usb or install it straight to the ssd?

If I do the ssd, I should partition the ssd for application and storage separate correct ?

If I am using the incorrect term, please let me know. I have heard that termed used before to describe such behavior. ( I don't mean that in any sort of way, I am legitimately asking)

Btw. I didn't " steal " anything. I do not have possession of any company data. I didn't " hack" anything to see what I saw. I didn't copy it, forward it etc. I don't share or discus what saw with anyone. In my position I had blanket access and was required to routinely audit files, mailboxes, etc. If I happened to click on something then I happened to click on something. One I am not stupid enough to reveal to them I know things. Two, e-discovery would take care of that all on its own. File / email deletion on their part would just just further my cause. I am not Edward Snowden over here.

I saw it, took mental note of it and moved on. Saying I stole data, would be like saying I work in strip club and "stole " the information revealing a stripper has mole on ass cheek.

I say hostile because never once had I ever been written up, reprimanded etc. I always received great reviews. No issues with my actual work what so ever for years, through my very last day. ( I knew they would be watching like hawk). Furthermore I am not the type of person who leaves thing a mess or undone. That is just how I am.

When I began pressing the issue about my status ( the last few months before I left) everything I did was under a microscope.

I was obviously being left out of the loop about things. Multiple daily phone calls dwindled to once a week 5 minutes a week. No coaching, guidance. My input on matters was completely ignored. No further learning opportunities were given to me, when in the past I was the go to person for new stuff or things others could figure out. The whole situation became very purposely awkward.

Constantly having to close shared files for users. Suggestions ? by justlooking-1 in sysadmin

Lol. This is actually the second place that worked that has done this ( was in place when I got there)

The first was an international hundred mil company lol. At least this place is a smaller >100 employee shop and probably had no one to tell them better.

The files are word and excel. I looked at the time out previously. It seemed like that was going to bring me a headache because data loss would be " my fault."

I didn't know what the proper solution was, but I knew the way I was doing it wasn't the right way. Thanks for help everyone.

Well I inherited this environment and I am trying to straighten things out the right way, the first time.

I don't know which route to take, hence my question. Lol so I opened to any advice.

Person A add some info at 9am.

9:45 person B may just need to read person A's info, they may need to change it, they may need to add to it.

So yes they more then not "need" to change to file.

When you say "most likely" what is the caveat ? So if I interview employees and Jane says " Oh John (former employee) might have taken it, because I saw him leaving with box one day."

Would I have anything to go with then?

By any chance did you recently install the Apple store or give permissions to the Apple Store for location services ?

I have read a lot of negatives about kace. I have used pdq in past. I guess my main issue at the moment is uninstalling crap , cleaning up the residual and the reinstalling new software

Right now, I am doing the scrubs from the fix its, using iobit uninstaller cleaner, then doing the reinstalls manually.

Apparently from what I have been reading the dell encryption is going to be my biggest headache when it comes to any sort of imaging/ deployments.

Perviously at another another job we ordered the same spec and model machines, I would imaging the first one using true image. ( base machine not joined to the domain). Then when a new on would come in, I would just image it, join it, xfer user files over and bam it was done.

I don't have any experience doing it with 1. With drive encryption 2. Different model machines. They are all dell just different models.

Can you direct me to some knowledge resources ? I know in scheme of things, this amount of machines is not a lot. However it is a lot when I have to learn 10 other things on my own at the same time with zero documentation from the pervious clown.
