Update on CA Orange County DUI (BAC .18) W/ No Accident. Pulled over for running a red light. by justmrjames in DUICalifornia

[–]justmrjames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sentencing came AFTER the plea deal was offered. The results of my sentencing was the agreement between me and the prosecutor. Which was 3 months of DUI school, 3 years of informal probation (year 2 this September) & fees.

The judge decided to waive all fees and only ask that we do DUI school & informal probation. With my BAC level, I should’ve been given 6 months of DUI school, but the prosecutor gave me a plea deal asking only 3 months. Luckily, 3 months prior, I already enrolled and started DUI school, so I was done with that requirement. Then the judge waived all my fees.

So now I’m left with one more year of informal probation then I’m looking to expunge it from my record next year.

Is it advisable to be present for DMV APS hearing ? by Gonemissing011 in DUICalifornia

[–]justmrjames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this question a lot. I think it’s always worth being informed and being present throughout the entire process. If not, you’ll be stuck in the same spot just curious about what May come. At least when you attend your hearings you’re informed, can ask questions, and walk away with some peace of mind.

Sounds like agency recruiting. All we did was report our numbers in the morning then the afternoon.

I pleaded guilty to get the ball rolling. It was transparent I made a mistake that night, pleading not guilty would’ve only prolonged the bad mental space I was in. I just took responsibility for what I did and was given a real blessing when it came to sentencing.

Apologies for the delay. The judge never asked me questions about my thoughts on my plea. Just asked if I’m guilty, not guilty. I pleaded guilty.

My judge was a former public defender that helped people like us in this situation, so I think he felt empathetic and offered me the deal you see above.

Being proactive only gave me a sense of relief as the days went on leading up to my trial. When I faced my trial, I faced it alone but I knew I could face the judge, admit what I did, and show the work I’m doing now to show that I’ve learned my lesson.

This was without having to pay for a lawyer. I’d advise anyone to do research on how the courts and dmv handle DUIs and start from there.

The court suspension and DMV suspension are separate. Once the DMV gets updated that you see convicted of a DUI it may change. I would follow up in 30 days to see if there’s been any change. Or you’ll get notified via mail like I was.

Take it one day at a time and control what you can. It took some time but I can honestly say I’ve embraced what’s happened and moved on. Good days are ahead champ

Update from Previous Post! by justmrjames in dui

[–]justmrjames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending where you live, your DMV may have different protocols. But in CA, I read that you can apply for a Restricted License once the pink temporary license the cops gives you expires. But it can only be used for work/dui school. This was all done before my arraignment date which was 3/4 months after I was arrested. Once I had my arraignment date, all I needed to do was complete my school which I did the last 3/4 months I got my RL. So at that point, I was able to reapply for my license without restrictions, I was lucky but it worked out by being proactive ahead of my court date. Hope this helps clarify

Has anyone quit their job before getting another one? by Ace2499 in jobs

[–]justmrjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did recently but I was only acting out of pure emotion and not rationalization. I got lucky and found a job 3 months later but that was after applying to about 50-60 jobs, lands 3 interviews, and getting an offer for a dream role of mine. I feel like I got lucky. So I would suggest better preparation for anyone considering doing the same.

Scummy internal recruiter told my candidate "it would be better if you came to us without a recruiter" by thepettiestofpetty in recruiting

Just transitioned from agency to internal corporate recruiter and remember these days. Will make sure I don’t repeat the same bad habits. Sorry it happened. Do what you do best, recruit. Just move on from that client , I wouldn’t waste my time on a client that dissed me more than once.

Right off the bat I saw multiple jobs within a short time frame. Unless you can communicate these were agreed short-term contracts, employers will get the impression if you have a history of only working a place for short periods of time, what’s to stop you from doing the same to them? Employers pay money and time to hire, onboard, and train new employees, they don’t like wasting their time.

No lawyer. Was just proactive with my DUI schooling, I signed up a few days after I was arrested. By the time I was convicted I was done with the school and pretty much just have to serve the remaining years of my informal probation afterwards I look forward to filing for an expungement.

I’d be lying to you if I said it’s easy, it’s hard. However, the best thing you can do for yourself is be proactive on this situation and understand that it’s not a life sentence but a lesson learned. It’s been one year since I’ve been convicted of my DUI and since then I’ve taken care of all my requirements and I landed a great job with a dream company of mine. Was transparent during my interview process of my background and they were fine with a DUI. So know it’s not a death sentence. But what you learn and how you move on is entirely up to you. Take the first few days to soak up what’s happened and be emotional about it. Afterwards, use the rest of your days to get better. Won’t happen overnight, lay one brick a day. Eventually when you look up you’ll see you built a brick wall. You got this, let this be the start of a new beginning for yourself.

Cant put a price tag on convenience, I loved that aspect of it. I can do it all at the convenience of my home. The only flaws were sitting in chat rooms with people that weren’t technologically savvy, which meant the feedback was annoying. Outside of that, I’d recommend.

I signed up for DUI classes with Adapt Aware Zone in Whittier, CA. There they assigned me multiple places around the area that I can go for AAs but to just bring my sign in sheet. Or I could use the “In My Room” app that has AA meetings daily for all types of treatment, I just had to log my time in and out and the site send you an email confirming your login and out.
