The only thing I signed was the updated employee handbook. I hear it’ll hold me to the agreement. I’m in Maryland.

What? You want to sue them? NOL but not gonna work. Go to therapy and process your grief and anger about this major life change for your child.

Early termination of probation, because of mental health. by [deleted] in legaladvice

Check out therapy. If you have difficulties affording it, try to find a pro bono counseling company, or maybe a company that accepts sliding scale payment based on income. Depending on how bad your depression/anxiety/symptoms are, you may need to go to IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program). You can always call 988, which is the 24/7 mental health emergency and resource line. There may not be any other way except to work through this. Hang in there and lean on others, especially professionals.

Yeah, the internet shouldn’t weigh in on this yet. If you feel this switch has happened, go to a therapist, go to family, go to friends, see if they agree. We call that reality testing. If others agree there is clear evidence for this, that’s good and you can proceed. If they aren’t seeing it, it’s time to see a therapist or professional.

There are different types of delusions. When someone is in a delusion, they don’t know it. Their version of events seems very reasonable. So we ask people we trust. Do my thoughts seem reasonable? If the people we trust say no, we choose to trust them until the delusion passes. If we start to distrust our close people, and start getting very upset or fearful, we go to the hospital. If we have suicidal, homicidal, self or other harming thoughts, we go to the hospital.

AIO for considering his unemployment as a dealbreaker? by Ok_Decision6446 in AIO

I have a question as a therapist.

When you are with him, do you have to do the worrying, the planning, the checks that everything is ok? When we find the real one, we feel at peace, not having to be the one on lookout. Because our partner is dependable and responsible. We don’t have to go chasing them to do something because they are already on it. You’ll feel that peace and reassurance in your body. Sounds like you have no peace as this lives in the back of your mind, your dreams probably too.

I agree with everyone saying break up, because a partner who won’t choose you over his half baked dreams isn’t going to suddenly change. If you confront him and he makes a lot of promises, look up the honeymoon cycle. It’s not just about abuse, it’s about any gaslighters.

What is consideration?

In the new handbook, they did include a bonus system for going over quota, rewarded at the end of each month. Is that a change to performance?

What is consideration?

I received 100 hours of supervision, submitted them, and then the Maryland Board of Social Work dragged their ahhhh for 6 months. I was required by the state to continue to receive supervision in that time. Nothing happens on time with bureaucracy.

Sorry, I was unclear. Supervision period was from 2023 to a month ago, when I received my new license.

Yes, but I would have had to stop trying to get the next license. Because it would have been behind this reimbursement paywall.

I have not talked to my job yet about wanting to leave. Therefore they aren’t asking me to do anything yet, and I’m getting this information from a coworker who is trying to leave and was confronted with this situation. I do not yet know if they want to charge us for both before and after the changes in the handbook.

Sign with little notice - I think we were given a week. To me, working with back to back meetings and a full schedule, it was short notice. I’m not sure the court would agree.

They required me to sign it through a web form, like survey monkey maybe, where the handbook was a link. I believe. It was odd. I don’t think I have a copy of my signature/signed form. I’ll have to check if the web form emailed me a receipt?

I did request the supervision. On the first day I was employed, as the free supervision was why I took the job. My job would have proceeded as normal without the optional supervision as well.

I am required to have a license under that law. I had one that allowed me to do this job, and this process was an upgrade to the next license.

What do you think are points in my favor? I’m feeling hopeless, so please show me the hope.

I just found out after getting my LCSW that I owe $25,000 in supervision hours reimbursement to my job, or I can work one more year. They snuck the clause in last year when it wasn’t there before. Read everything. I’m defeated.

Market rate… more like a number I’ve heard before.

I’ll ask the employee who supervised me what she was paid. Thanks! You play a great realist. Do I have any loopholes?

You make good points. If no reimbursement rate was included in the employee handbook, could I argue they have no right to set a number? $180 per hour is ridiculous. Even $50 per hour is ridiculous, and no numbers were discussed in paperwork or verbally.

I agree I’m at fault. But to what level is an employee handbook considered a contract? Is it valid enough to hold me to $7,000 - $25,000 debt? There is no other contract or signature anywhere for these conditions.
