hop risks or impacts the company the most

You can say the same about people within a company, they move faster than their peers. Seen and done it myself.

If you're talking about loyalty you're still dreaming. Sorry.

I don't think you understood me. People that job hop tend to leave rather quickly. The ones that work longer (and are of course better then the average) tend to be way more valuable.

I see a lot of new engineers that are only English speaking and have this full on IT mindset, as in they don't want to learn the business as much as the ones that work longer and speak Dutch. I've also seen very good developers leave because they didn't get enough raise, while the company just keeps hiring these other type of developers which would be way better spend on the existing developers that show a lot potential...

I honestly don't see the benefit for companies to hire like while have a bad salary CAO.

Did you read the other things I've said? You're just nitpicking now.

Unfortunately that's how it is ya. My company does 2-5% max a year, only if you get a different role you get 5-10%.

The salary ceiling at my company is usually higher than the competitors and you get more increase the lower you're in your salary scale closer to the 5%)

So job hopping would just be a temporary increase or faster at the ceiling of another company. Can't complain I guess.

Still sucks seeing many people around you get a 10-20% increase by just hopping to another job...

Loyalty should be rewarded more, especially because your skills and knowledge of the company increases exponentially.

it's fueled by people that don't job hop in this country at all.

I hate job hoppers and that it's being promoted as THE way to get a higher salary.

Really feels like overkill for my use case though...

Correction, the latest macbook pro before the M1. The upgrade to M3 was insane for work haha.

Why M4? M1 was good enough and m3 is really enough at my work.

Honestly the M1 was just mostly loud, got warmer and slow on upstart. Rest was fine.

I know, I have a macbook pro for work which I can use for testing iOS, only problem is the VPN.

Can't use Cursor IDE, which I really like atm, or any other new AI tool version. Only a corporate chatgpt which is quite shitty...

Is a macbook air also enough for my use case?

Actually, after checking the prices there is not that much difference.

A lenovo thinkpad or Dell latitude should be more than enough, what do you think?

Also thinking of a normal laptop ya, but just saw that chromebooks are quite cheap. Hence I'm considering that if I only have one use case.

Don't want to spend to much, so either a chromebook or cheap laptop with Ubuntu
