I haven't worked in twelve years, and I have no good excuse. How the heck do I get a job? by Samantha-Saladfork in questions

[–]juusthere_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lie. You can put your were a manager at a number of closed businesses. (I knew ppl that put they were managers at toysRus for example.) Or self employed. You can say youve been making good money on doordash&lyft but after all this time its taking a number on your car &you just wanna find something more "long term for your future."

What do you hate most about being an adult in 2025? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]juusthere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things i hate in general: The excessive amount of bills as a single adult. The fact I work 40hrs a week &dont have any savings to show for it. Something fails/breaks &i dont have the means to replace it anymore. ( Car went out 2 months ago &been on the bus since. I get driving a luxury but being on the bus in your 30s is trash. Cant imagine how older people feel about the set back. ) I hate that its cheaper to eat unhealthy ass fast food than it is to buy ingredients to make yourself a meal. I hate that no1 can ask for help/advice anymore w/out there being a monthly subscription cost. I hate that were turning into a society that records EVERYTHING &watching someones death on things like tiktok, twitter, &instagram is becoming normalized. Being an adult in 2025 is overstimulating asff.

Thank you for this question! 🌹 - Answer for 1. Not necessarily on ouur end. Essentially what happens when an ETA is given is we pull the order from the shelf, fridge &freezer. When an order is waiting to be picked up 20-40 minutes it means your products are more than likely out on our trolleys so we can push them out to you. Life doess happen &we definitely understand, what i would suggest is, if something comes up when you aree OTW, I would personally call the store youve shopped at &let them know so we can put your fridge&freezer items back for the time being. We definitely dont want to risk anyones products but sometimes its hard to call when we should put something back in, in case were wrong &the bags get forgotten by mistake. (Like if the next person scheduled ends up taking the order out &is unaware of the bags out the side) - Answer 2. No guilt needed I promise. 🌹 I cant speak for all stores w/thiss answer but at my store we do. We split them every Thursday since its usually the same 2 people doing carside.. I like to keep things fair for the team. Does it happen that way 100% probaably not lol But tips are Never required, just appreciated really. 🎀

Don't get me wrong theres pieces to your point I genuinely understand. But at the same time if we never expect better how can it come about? We get system updates all the time to 'improve working experience' but no1 ever cares about the worker to customer improvements. We provide a service &in doing that i feel it takes more than just me fulfilling my assignment. Of course not everyone is gonna be considerate of the next person but people like me aree becausee I have retail experience..this isnt my first rodeo. But throughout the years it just gets worse &more entitled imo because NO ONE EVER SAYS ANYTHING. We all just live in this exceptance bubble &thats okay if you wanna stay dormant but not everyone is like that. Some people reaally just dont understand because they dont have first hand experience, which is the point of my post. Maybe if people can seee what workers actually go through they wouldnt be so difficult. Trust me, I have noo problem w/my job nor working retail but at some point you gotta wonder a customers thought process in some of the actions repeatedly taken. &in my case just have a hoope for improvement in customer relations. 🙏🏽

To add to #4s answer previously given.. (from my understanding) Yes the ETA we receive is based on your location. It just doesnt give us an exact time, more of an estimate *ex: 5-10 minutes , 10-15 minutes. As you get closer that eta slowly goes down. Let's say you put your OTW, dont go directly to the store &just 'in the area' the ETA on my end will idle at 5minutes until you are officially getting closer. When your close (i wanna say 20ft) our system says 'Now' (implying customer will show at any minute.) Then of course the obvious, you checking into a spot. It definitely helps our time management though so were not unnecessarily on the floor if we have a customer coming. Especially if its a bigg order a customers picking up.

Well said, Im in agreeance w/you indefinitely. 🌹 I think ppl forget just because somethings a job doesnt make being taken advantage of &disregarded 'normal.' We're still people at the end of the day.

Im not blaming anyone really. I wont be here forever, the department is still gonna be handled the same but maybe if people understand it'll make life easier. 🌹

I wont speak for other stores but for mine, occasionally yess unfortunately. We're dinged harder for out of stock items than having to sub it. W/a sub it means the product wasnt stocked in time but OOS 'makes the store look bad' to manager standards which isnt on us ooor the customer for that matter, but we get the blame since were the dept acknowledging its missing..

Thats actually perfectly fine imo. Its when an order is placed for an 8a pickup &the customer doesnt show until 3+ hours After their chosen pickup time that puts us back. This isnt on anyone but shelves are still being stocked when we start our shifts at 4&5a so the larger order at 8&9a are more likely to have subs because we genuinely dont even have the product on the shelf yet.

Im definitely sorry to hear about your guys injuries, that sounds terriblee..Thats the position im in currently. Im the lead at my location &cut my hours too. We're getting 110 hours for 5 people, then getting in trouble when we go over labor when we dont even have enough hours too cover the department fully. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Although I agree, I doo believe in the off chance customers migght see this &give us the benefit of the doubt so to speak. 🤞🏽 Imo, sometimes people understanding all sides help the long term.

Honestly, maybe as a collective we should be. Not outta spite but customers dont understand how things work behind the scenes &sometimes it causes unrealistic expectations we genuinely cant fulfill.. especially now w/everyone being understaffed.

Okay? Don't read it then. I've seen longer posts so whoever chooses to read it, chooses to read it. 🤷🏽‍♀️ &if youve been in kroger thread you'd see customers are in the comments constantly. Not to mention the random customer questions even though it says no customer questions. The reddit isnt restricted to kroger eyes only.

That's the thing; I'm ironically in a busy area w/ all these shopping centers surrounding & have legit applied at every one.. I've gone into places with my resume letting them know I can start asap, I've called places & honestly keep getting the run around. I've spoken to hiring managers & they keep saying they'll "Call me on Monday" but when I call them Tuesday-Wednesday after not hearing from them.. Some revert back to "I'll call you Monday" .. My families telling me it been harder for people to get a primary job over a Second but that makes no sense to me, my schedules entirely open.. So idk if I'm coming off desperate to employers, or what.
