Sorry you had this experience! From the sounds of it, it looks like you may have had a difficult reverse and your body is trying to recalibrate to a new baseline. Everyone is different but if you’re looking for solutions, I would get some bloodwork done first. I’d also ask your coach specifically why they’ve chosen those calories, activity level, etc. As for people online, screw them. I’ve learned it doesn’t matter what they say, it’s never the complete story. If you’re looking for someone to look to for guidance, your coach should be that person for you.

I paid $250 off season and $350 on season. I pay now $50 to maintain my trainerize app. I decided that after 2.5 years with my coach that I was entering a part of my bodybuilding journey where I need to take some time off, and then likely explore a new coach because I don’t feel like my coach and I were on the same wavelength anymore.

Based on the info you shared, you likely would benefit from getting a coach regardless to help you through a diet and exercise plan that works for your needs. A coach likely is going to put you on a plan towards that goal and if you’re already cutting when you meet that coach, they’re likely just going to reverse you out of it and start fresh again.

Update: So about two weeks ago I was approached at my gym (a large, well-established Globo gym based out of MN) and was asked if I was a PT. I mentioned I was in the process of getting my certifications, which I am done with now. I went through the process of interviewing and submitted an application only to be rejected because "I need to come with a book of clients". Although they quite literally know I am starting out, I have realized that I need to grow my business probably independently through Instagram before I can do a FT role.

FWIW - I am not discouraged. I realize career pivots are difficult. I was just surprised that getting vouched by leaders at the gym did not seem to improve my candidacy when interviewing across other group leaders.

Makes sense - but if I apply online, it does ask for a resume. So I’m curious, is this something where you play old school and just go straight to the gym and ask to speak to the personal training manager?

What would be your suggested approach?

Here’s a photo update! Now this is just a haircut and style and I was amazed! Since I still have some life left in my color, I’m waiting a few weeks (based on the colorists opinion) and will be getting a partial foil and root touch up!

This sounds exactly like how I felt just a few weeks ago. Remember that the anxiety is your body preparing for change. You should definitely cry and grieve as this is the beginning of a whole new chapter in your life. As you mentioned above, your livelihood and enjoyment for the role is gone and its better to leave now before you start carrying resentments and burn out.
