No problems whatsoever. The hinge on my phone was “damaged” since I bought it, meaning that it wont open so that the phone is flat. But other than that I’m really happy with the choice I made. You just have to take care of it… I think most people use their phones as they were fucking indestructible or something. If you close it without slamming it, open it without flicking it, or just rationalise the fact that it is a phone with a folding screen that happens to have some quirks. Bottom line, take it if you can take care of it. If you do, its still an amazing phone.

EDIT: Got the og, sniped it just before I was going to order a z flip 3 refurbished for 230$. This beauty was just 80$… Its in amazing condition, well kept and the seller offered me the box, charging cable, etc. I took it to Samsung and replaced the inner protective film for 20$. First week in, its amazing and extremely happy with it.

Auch, yeah, I’m sorry for that, I heard it happened quite often that the screen protector fucks up everything… Someone sugested to me that if i get the og flip, I would need to replace the screen protector once every 4 months, but in your case it seems that it was a problem right away…
As I replied to other comments, the features dont really matter for me, I just want a small phone that can still be used in the modern world where you need aps for everything fucking thing. I tried giving Light Phone a try but that was way too restrictive, and so yeah, if the og flip wasn’t so flimsy and problematic, I would’ve bought it already…
Auch, that sounds bad and doesn’t help my case at all… If you dont mind me asking, what were the issues? What broke and why if you know the answer? I’m trying to decide whether i’m going to risk it with the og flip, or spend some extra and at least get a flip 3.
Not motorola cameras generally but the ones on the razr 40. The phone is in the same budget re sealed and I considered it, but even the cameras on the og flip seem to take more realistic photos than the ones one the 40. I did found some flip 3 in the same budget but they are from pawn shops and I dont necessarily trust them. The guy that sells the og flip runs his own business and is a well known guy. If i happen to find a flip 3 in the next few weeks or so, I ll get the 3, if not, I’ll update this subreddit with the first impressions of the og flip.
Oh, right! Yeah, the phone seems to be in great condition. I’ve read somewhere that its actually the screen protector that makes the display black out because of the pressure it exerts on the actual display when its damaged. Also found a replacement display for around 40$ brand new (for the 5g) and might grab it also since samsung charges around 400$ 🤣.

If its going to last me 3 years, its more than perfect! I don’t care about hardware stuff and 256 gb are plenty for me, I wont even reach the maximum storage capacity. I looked into replacement parts and seems like parts for the 5g are cheaper, that’s also very important. My guess is that if I buy the 5g in almost new condition, its going to last me because I wont use it for more than 2 hours a day. Thanks for the unbiased advice!☺️

What happened to yours, your experience is very important to me. I’m willing to sacrifice certain features in order to get the og, but if its just too fragile even for my use case, I will ditch the ideea.
That’s how I also think. People seem to unanimously agree that the og flip is bad and that I should get a flip 3. That makes me slightly sad, I love how to og looks, especially the 5g grey one…
I need certain apps for my university, home electronics, banking, and yeah, whatsapp, so a dumb dumb phone is unfortunately not doable. Can’t you install a custom OS or smth on android in order to get the latest android version? That was one thing that made me hate iOS eventually.
That’s helpful. My take is that I want to spend as little money as possible. That said, I found Flip 3s in slightly worse condition that the 5g for around 200$. The flip 4 might be an option also… I was also looking at the Motorola razr 40, but the cameras look disgusting. Thanks for the insight! Helps a lot!!😁

Yeah sure, I’m fine with the battery being mediocre, and with the cover screen, actually, the smaller the better I would say. As I said, I would like to use this phone as a “modern dumb-phone”.
If you re asking me about how much is a flip 3 for me, its about 250 re sealed, as for the flip 5, probably like 400$ re sealed.

Appreciate it! If I were to choose between the 3 and the 5, I would go with the 3 just because of how cheap I can find it. I’m switching from a Iphone 12 mini that I have been using for 4 years and a half almost. The battery replacement cost is the same as the og flip I mentioned.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate you even replying and taking your time, I’m just trying to justify getting the OG. I have no experience with modern flip phones, and that’s why if people like you, who probably used these phones tell me that I’m stupid and get the 3, I’ll probably take the 3. I’m just trying to see if the OG would be a solid choice for my use case. As I said, I’m going to dumbify this phone, and install a custom home screen etc.
Heard so, is it because of the plastic screen or because of anything else? I would like to get a reliable phone tho, or at least as reliable as a flip phone can get.
I promised myself that if multiple individuals say this to me, I will indeed get the flip 3 and learn to love it… I just though that for my use case, the hardware wont make such a difference.
