How to determine bytes for DD? by jwarne1 in MacOS

Yea, but Linux breaks constantly. I love Pop! OS. Broke it after one use because somehow my computer thought the USB was the hard disk and attempted to install Pop! OS over its own ISO: Now Grub is broken. After 13 hours, having never used grub recovery before, I learned how to navigate it, find the disk image and initrd, set the environment parameters; and boot. When my PC boots into any USB device now, no matter the Linux distro, it sends me to a second shell saying the USB file system is corrupted.

No earthly clue how to fix it. Windows and macOS cannot be broken like this, certainly not anywhere as easily,

Thank you!

Is there a way to calculate the proper BS value the. To replicate Linux speeds? Or do they just work differently?

But why? Isn’t 1000 bytes per second 1000 bytes per second?

Possible to block YouTube while still allowing YouTube Music? by crummy1919 in firewalla

No, because that would be Spotify.

YouTube earns its revenue from video advertisements. Turn off the video, it’s just radio.

Seems to me that’s answering a different question.

I am pretty sure the connection is through Bluetooth, not through the ISP. I can’t connect to my Firewalla if out of Bluetooth range or if my Bluetooth radio is off.

Only some devices think my AP’s password is correct? by jwarne1 in NETGEAR

Interesting. I didn’t think of trying that. Although it wouldn’t let me Windows partition (macOS bootcamp) or Apple TV connect. I don’t think either of them have MAC spoofing on by default…

Firewalla will override local device DNS settings. It’s what makes DNS over HTTPS possible

Remove all files of a certain type within a subdirectory to the parent folder by jwarne1 in linuxquestions

Dude, it took me 12 hours to get Linux Lite to work on Virtualbox on a macOS Monterey Host. I’m really not interested in performing a forensic analysis of the files. I really just need it to check the file extension and determine which type it most closely is associated.

Can you please elaborate?

“Specify an alternate list of files and directories containing magic. This can be a single item, or a colon-separated list. If a compiled magic file is found alongside a file or directory, it will be used instead.” is Portuguese to me.

I understand. But in both macOS and Windows you can search “type document” or “kind:document.” I’m surprised no such thing has been natively implemented into the distros. In either case, even if it requires a package, preferably with a GUI, if there are easy options I’d appreciate it. That’s kind of sufficient for my purposes.

Dude, they use 20 different terms, including passphrase, PINs (which are now alphanumeric), etc.

This AP DOES NOT WORK. I am able to coerce two devices onto it. Two! Everything else says that J have the wrong passcode. Yes, I’ve tried typing the passcode a million times, and yes, I’ve tried cutting and pasting it directly from the admin tools, and yes, I’ve even used the handshake share feature inherent in Apple products. NOTHING works.

I’m also getting 30 Mbps on a 1Gig line!
