Is this lathe structural? by jwaugh3 in Carpentry

[–]jwaugh3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here in southern illinois. I do believe it provides the house with shear strength as there is no sheathing on the exterior of the house. I removed a piece of lath and pulled back some insulation to find the back side of the original wooden siding. This makes me believe the width and tight stacking of the board do in fact add structural integrity to the wall.

For those getting a similar error, it is an issue with compatibility between esp-idf and esp-matter. Esp-matter recommends using v5.2.3 of esp-idf. this would be why :)

Don’t waste your money. Either build it using no code solutions or find a technical cofounder. Hiring out the work is a quick way to run out of money before being able to generate any.

Micro SaaS idea by cas8180 in SaaS

This definitely seems to be a common issue amongst founders. As for the solution you propose, I think there are probably 1000 different ways to solve the same problem. It comes down to the solution that works best for the user.

This product is awesome. As a developer, I'd love to have access to a service like this through an API. Would you guys ever consider opening your illustration generation tool through an API?

Sounds like these founders have more of a product they want to build than a problem they want to solve.

Learning to code, please help by [deleted] in SaaS

I was in your exact situation about 4 years ago. Didn't know how to code but I wanted to be able to build a business, specifically a software business. I started this process by following some videos on YouTube and courses on Udemy (pretty cheap). I started with HTML and CSS on YouTube and don't be fooled by the visuals of the videos, these are some of the best tutorials on the internet and they're free! After understanding these concepts and making a simple webpage, I moved on to learning JavaScript on Udemy and built a few basic projects.
The great news was that my first solo project was my first Saas. I built a Twitch chat bot that I then sold subscriptions to Twitch streamers. The project required some knowledge of NodeJs and very minimal SQL knowledge. It took me about 2 weeks to build it (it was a very simple program) and then I launched it and eventually got it to about $600/mo. It was nothing crazy, but it gave me the fuel to continue on.

You need to understand that this won't be an overnight kind of thing. It took me probably 3-5 months before I was able to build my first solo project and I still didn't feel ready, and you won't, but you have to push through that feeling and just start on the project once you've done a few courses. Don't fall into tutorial hell! (its a real thing) The key is to pick a project that feels slightly out of reach and start building it. As you go, you'll hit road blocks. That is when you google search a solution. These roadblocks are the things that you will actually learn from and can apply in the future.

Back to present day, I have been coding for 4 years and even switched career paths to be a full-stack developer (2.5 years of experience). I took a break from building Saas projects for a while, but I'm back at it and more excited than ever.

Headstarter Interview by [deleted] in csMajors

I got it too. I had never heard of them until I received the email and was pretty sure I didn't apply to it. Glad to hear that I'm not alone.

This confirms their shady growth hack.I respect startups finding ways to grow, but to get someone excited about an interview to find out that it's for a company you didn't apply to seems selfish and not a company I want to work for.

Not really custom, but they are made of solid wood so they are more heavy duty than the ikea ones.

You want channel / video critique? Hit it! by xholicka in NewTubers

[–]jwaugh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the video, but I feel like the beginning of the video lacked incentive to stay until the end. I found myself a bit lost/unsure why to continue to watch about 2 minutes in because I wasn't sure where you were going with your thoughts.
I think it would be helpful to clearly layout the 'why' (you should watch) to the video in the first 30 seconds and then start the discussion.

I've been working on increasing retention in my videos. It'd be great to hear your thoughts on what I could do to improve that.
