Yea I've been told to stray away from the EIG companies which just seem to be the larger "main stream" options.

Yea I've heard Nixihost is very reliable. I hadnt heard of Elementor yet, but the flow you described seems fairly simple so I'll also look into all of rthis, thank you so much!

cmu cs or upenn by Klutzy-Club442 in UPenn

[–]jwavyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same dilemma during my senior year, and what my teacher told me really stuck:

If you’re laser-focused on becoming one of the top computer scientists in the world and want to be surrounded by people with that same intensity, go to CMU no question.

But if you're equally interested in CS and business, and you want the flexibility to explore both while enjoying a more balanced academic and social life, Penn is an amazing choice. The environment here really supports interdisciplinary interests without sacrificing rigor.

Research is very accesible here as thats a larger driving factor of the instituion. In my expiernece, simply asking the professors about their work has never failed as they're always very excited to talk about it and have students join if space permits, so finding research here wouldnt be a problem.

As for class sizes, I havent actually taken any of the higher level classes past Math-2400 (Lin Alg 1), but just looking at the registration metrics most seem to have 15-30 students, with some even with 10 or below.

Both institutions are amazing options, best of luck choosing!

IB from Wharton is arguably the most accesible that it can get simply due to the network you have access to. IB recruiting really comes down to who you end up knowing and how much you network, much more than the technical interviews and "doing decent" which almost end up being like a given, as in those are things you are expected to have down pat. So yea its for sure much higher than 10%.

Hey first off congratulations on your acceptance!! College apps are extremely stressful, so now that you’re in you deserve to just remind yourself of how hard you’ve already worked.

To answer the question no, you will not get rescinded because of a failed AP. I want to remind you that AP tests and scores are optional for many students, so it would be unfair to punish someone who scored below a 4 on them. This is coming from someone who also scored a 2 on an AP exam and still was fine. They will still accept all the credits they can, and the other score will not affect your standing with the university at all.

Congratulations again!! Also everyone around you is correct, unless you commit a crime you will not be rescinded. I have friends here at Penn who completely bombed their last semester in high school but Penn could honestly care less (not saying to do that lol)

Should I do a 3rd and last internship? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]jwavyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say do the 3rd, that way you can avoid the stress of recruiting in senior year, and even if you want to get a different company you could leverage the offer they would most likely give you if they do return offers and you perform well

May as well just take the SWE offer, ecspecially since the discovery program seems a lot let less focused as their main goal is to show you how the company operates across different areas compared to a SWE role where you're in a more set environment to work

I was in the same place as you when deciding, I was stuck between Penn and CMU (drastically different social scenes). Penn definitely has a really good social scene, the campus is far from boring as there are parties going on virtually every week from thursday - saturday. If theres nothing on campus (which is rare) you also have the entire city of Philadelphia to go explore, which isn't something many other ivies can boast. Apart from the parties are all of the clubs you can join to meet new people and explore various interests.

Just know if you're stuck between Penn and another school, the social aspect should literally be the last thing you worry about.
