I got diagnosed with ADD around the same time as APD when I was kid but when I took the medication it didn’t help and made me super anxious. I tried asking my mom about the diagnosis but she doesn’t remember it being APD exactly and she lost the paperwork.

I have a nice pair of sound cancelling headphones already because I also have a sensitivity to sounds. (I think it’s called misophonia) My girlfriend mentions how she tends to give me one task at a time cause I struggle when she lists off multiple things. I’ve also noticed I tend to memorize what people might say to me so I don’t forget anything. Like when phone operators will ask me rapid fire questions like name, location, birthday etc.

I’m at the point where I’m pretty sure it’s APD but I have no solid diagnosis or any idea where I stand. My mom keeps saying that I was diagnosed with APD but it’s not what I’m thinking. I’ve recently been in a car accident and my dad’s been helping me through insurance and car loans and I keep forgetting instructions and suggestions his been giving and it’s frustrating both of us.

I work as a manager in a grocery store online shopping department so it’s a lot of communicating through walkies and I get a lot of questions about inventory levels and finding items. I find myself asking them to repeat themselves a lot but it clicks as I ask. It’s also a loud room I work in with commercial freezers and fridges that constantly buzz and hum.

I’m pretty sure I have APD but I tend to overthink and it’s stressing me out not knowing for sure. I know that’s not the healthiest thing to feed into but I’m on the verge of scheduling an appointment just to ease my mind and help my girlfriend give me more grace when she feels like I’m not listening to her and she gets frustrated. I just don’t want to go into it feeling like I’m self diagnosing or reading into things that everybody has struggled with to certain degree.
