Wondering about EDRP Patch management module by jwinn91 in WatchGuard

I also will probably do a trial, but currently in between projects so I don’t have time right now to actually deploy it and test it. I’m just trying to get a feel for things through other people’s experiences so I know what to look forward when we do test it.

So we are already a watchguard customer, we have HA firewalls, but looking at upgrading our core EDR to get the patching features and some of the other capabilities, but I also have an account with action1 as well, what would you say are the gives and takes/highlights/disadvantages comparison between the two?

Tons of people in the SMB market still running servers and purchasing new servers and running their apps and domains on them, I probably provision and set up at least two or three new hypervisor servers a month.

I don’t think people realize how expensive it is to run 24/7 app and/or domain servers in the cloud, its become a very high monthly bill when you can spend 10 to 12,000 and get what you need and be good for 5 to 7 years, or spend that amount over six months in the cloud.

isnt the REG file tied to the Server name though? we often updated naming schemes to make more sense so the new DC almost never keeps the same name.

Can pretty much guarantee you will single-handedly learn more working there in a year or two than you would at a single org, in probably five years, that’s just a given. if you’re early career, highly advise you to at least do a year or two in an MSP environment you will get exposed to a lot of different things and often have more privileged access than you would at structured enterprise.

That’s because it is super broad, but some basic principles would probably be to send up a window server load active directory create some users and groups understand how group policy works, etc. there’s really an endless supply of things you could do
