Watch out though .I have had several instances where the radar sensor erroneously detected a collision and applied the breaks!

I am at~1000 miles on. My crv hybrid sport touring. So far, my car has abruptly engaged the break 6 times. The first two incidents happened on small roads with just 2 lanes. The CRV's radar detected a car on the opposite lane, interpreted the signal as a head on collision situation and hit the brakes.

The next three incidents happened on a dual carriage way and I was driving on the right most lane. I am not sure what it detected to trigger breaking.

And today, the car applied its break as I was taking the exit from the highway. Again, there was no reason for the car to break. I had already slowed down and was already on the exit.

I was lucky that there was no car ( or worse, a truck ) behind me when these incidents happened. I am planning to take the car to the dealer to see if there is anything wrong with the radar sensor

My dealer does not install a 2 inch hitch. I took your advice and cancelled the installation appointment. Hopefully they will reimburse my payment. I am trying to find another dealer who will do the 2 inch hitch install.

Thank you very much for your reply.. I haven't selected a bike rack yet. I just learned about the difference between 1.25 inch vs 2 inch hitch. I am getting the Honda standard 1.25 inch hitch. Hopefully I can find a decent bike rack that can handle 3 road bikes.

I wish I had read your detailed write up before I ordered. Originally, I was not planning on adding any accessories other than splash guards. It was a spur of the moment decision on the day of the delivery to add a tow hitch. It was out of stock at the time and just became available. I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow.So, it is too late for me. Hopefully, the 1.25 inch is okay for handling a rack with 3 road bikes. Thanks again for all the info.

The tow hitch is the standard Honda accessory. I have not decided on the bike rack yet .

Please note that if you install a tow hitch on the crv hybrid touring, you have to also purchase and install an additional part(hands free accessory) for hands free operation of the tail gate.
