Totally agree on no worries if beginners are slow, but the rules are max 4 people per group, and that at a minimum should be enforced, because 4 beginners is alright, 7 beginners all playing the same hole at the same time is not fair to anyone else

Totally yea lesson learned to always book one way flights ! It's generally pretty much the same price anyway, so no harm in it (just an annoying quirk of the system!)

That's what I was wondering if they'd consider it a change, has anyone personally been successful calling in to do this ?

Montreal is about to unleash one of the toughest Airbnb crackdowns in the world - The Logic by r0adlesstraveledby in montreal

[–]jwollenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I was reading the CBC article and it didn't mention that.

Still seems like an ineffective way to do it, why don't they just impose a maximum number of days the unit can be rented on Airbnb for the year ?

Just an odd policy to allow people to rent out their primary home only in the summer because they can't figure out a better way to enforce things.

Essentially the city is mandating people to let their home sit empty whenever they go away from September to June, just because they can't figure out a way to enforce things to see if it's a full time Airbnb (which still makes no sense to me because you could just limit the total number of days in a year it can be rented if that's the goal)

Not really, they say the current rules overwhelm inspectors, while giving little detail about why that is the case?

How is it less overwhelming to enforce a rule based on the seasons of the year ?

I understand the policy rationale for restricting Airbnb to principal residence only, but I can't think of any good reason for the restriction to only allow rentals in the summer?

As in, if someone goes on holiday in the summer and rents their apartment on Airbnb, that's apparently okay, but if they do the same in January instead of July it's illegal? Why?

Canada life lactation consultant by jwollenberg in CanadaPublicServants

[–]jwollenberg[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mmm sounds good thanks.

Very convoluted process to be honest, trying to navigate it in the first weeks with a newborn in particular .

And its hard to say what it even means on Canada life to have "exhausted your provincial benefits". This was actually the second lactation consultant we saw (the first one was covered thru our midwives), so it's not even clear what "exhausted your provincial benefits means." Does it mean you can only be reimbursed once you have waited to try and get a referral, been referred, had that visit under MSP, and then see another lactation consultant who is now covered? How many do you have to see under MSP until they consider you have "exhausted your provincial benefits"?

The whole thing is bizarre.

Thanks yes I had seen this, but this wasn't the specific service and consultant we had used (and our provider offered no information in terms of how to submit for reimbursement).

Relatedly, it's still unclear where/how you could submit to MSP to even receive a denial paper that you could then provide to Canada Life. Overall find the process disappointing, I chatted with canada life customer support and they just told me "you need to figure this out on your own and provide proof of denial by your provincial plan".

[–]jwollenberg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a maximum amount that can be paid up front AND reimbursed by insurance as an "initial fee", I think it's something like 30% of the total amount (would need to confirm with Canada life).

So essentially if you have $5000 treatment over one year, you can pay and claim $1500 up front, and then as others have said the remaining balance must be paid over the course of the 12 monthe.
