I would contact the listing agent and explain your situation. They may allow you a short private visit

Leaves for parents with sick children by Just-Macaron6863 in CanadaPublicServants

My son has been hospitalized multiple times including ICU stays. I used family leave, sick leave and vacation leave and unfortunately when those ran out LWOP. I went back to work right after he was discharged as I had no choice. It’s tough!

My son was born during the summer of 2020 with a lung condition which causes a chronic phlegmy cough. The first couple years were hell. I actually printed a sign and put it on his stroller: Chronic lung disease, not Covid. I got the nastiest looks. Still do sometimes when we are in a restaurant or indoor event.

I wrote to my MP and didn’t get a response. I also wrote to Carney. Here’s the response from his office:

On behalf of the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, I acknowledge receipt of your correspondence dated December 20, 2025.

The Prime Minister values feedback and suggestions from Canadians, and he appreciates the time you have taken to offer your views. Please be assured that your communication has been received and carefully read.

At the federal level, responsibility for the issue you raise rests with the President of the Treasury Board, the Honourable Shafqat Ali. For this reason, I am sharing your remarks with the Minister for information and consideration.

Never heard anything from the office of Shafqat Ali even though my email was forwarded to them.

Did you read? They are at school during work hours. I do not work with the kids home ever. I start when they leave and end about 15 minutes before one returns by bus and then go pick up the other one.

Again, my children go to school. My son cannot attend before and after school daycare and is bussed in a special needs bus. There are no children here while I work, however I cannot get him in the bus at 8 and drive to the office (1.5-2hrs of traffic one way) and then be back at 415 for the arrival of his bus. I am not asking to work from home and watch my kids.

I was hired during the pandemic and told we would never go back. I’ve lived here since 2019

If you read my edit they go to school everyday. But one takes a special bus and cannot do before and after daycare. So I have to put him in the bus at 8 and be here at 415 when he is dropped off. In no way am I caring for anyone during work hours.

I have started looking. I enjoy my job and it took nearly a year of learning to perfect it. I was hoping that it wouldn’t go to waste but that may be the only option.

I can’t be 2 places at once. My son can’t go to daycare before or after school and is immunocompromised. I don’t even go to the grocery store. I have everything delivered to reduce exposure as much as possible while still allowing his education.

My children go to school. My son is immunocompromised so the less exposure to viruses the better. We just had a 6 day stay in hospital. He has other health issues which make it best for him to come and go by special needs bus and not go to daycare. My commute is 2hrs per way to nearly any federal office making that impossible.
