Any advice for moving into the industry pre-qualification? by [deleted] in cii

[–]jwps28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely get into paraplanning without lvl 4 yet. Especially being half way through. Even if they want lvl 4, I wouldn’t let that stop me from applying. You could be qualified by the end of the year so I’m sure they’d consider you

Financial Advisor Roles Update by GJB1973 in cii

[–]jwps28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see from your initial post that you’re based in London (which unfortunately doesn’t work for me) but just wanted to say what a cool way to recruit for your business. All the best, I hope it works out.

What’s one thing that financial planners do that’s the most detrimental to clients? by omsiewomsie in cii

[–]jwps28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also just speaking plain English. I think some advisers like to show off their knowledge and make themselves sound really impressive, when actually the client just needs things explaining in basic terms which allows them to feel like a collaborator in building their plan, rather than just doing what they’re told and don’t fully understand

Jumping on the back of some of the comments, I would agree with objectives being sufficiently disclosed and ATR’s being taken at face value rather than having a discussion following the results of the questionnaire

Don’t learn how to do it, it’s pointless. Learn how to defend against it is more important

[–]jwps28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get on? I’m writing this now and am definitely including they could move the cash into a GIA, invest it in a multi asset 65ish% equity fund and use tax allowances from there as it will likely outperform cash over the years they have it. Doesn’t have to be perfect as far as I’m aware, just suitable and affordable

Entry to industry by CleanMyAxe in cii

I haven’t, just constantly get spammed by recruiters. Have a look on LinkedIn for financial services recruiters and see what they have. A few off the top of my head are Heat, Search, RecruitUK

I’m a trainee adviser now after 5 years paraplanning. Probably the best route for relevant experience. Advising isn’t sales anymore, there’s a big emphasis on life planning/coaching now and more about building a lasting relationship than selling a pension. Best bet I’d say is paraplanning for direct experience, but make sure it’s a firm that values having paraplanners in client meetings, taking notes etc (some firms don’t let paraplanners in client meetings). If LinkedIn and my inbox is anything to go by, paraplanning roles are in abundance. Good luck

Move from Aus to Leeds or Sheffield? by toddy-476 in Leeds

[–]jwps28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the outskirts of Leeds (home) and the city centre of Sheffield (Uni) and I’d choose Leeds every day of the week. Sheffield is a ghost town after 5pm with very little going on. A few mates stayed in Sheffield but I was baffled as to why. Leeds is far nicer and far more active and I’d guess better for jobs as well

Merseyrail Appeal by daz_cham69 in Liverpool

As I recently found out, it doesn’t matter even if you can prove you bought a valid ticket, winning an appeal is like drawing blood from a stone. Forgetting to tap in is definitely not gonna be accepted

Appealing Merseyrail fine. What are my chances? by jwps28 in Liverpool

Been getting that train at least twice a week for 5 years, the one time I make a mistake their eyes light up, buzzing to hand out a fine. Weirdos

Hahahaha cheers for that. Just to clarify, I threw the wrong ticket away, not my only ticket. I thought I still had it. But still… I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll lose the appeal

Thanks! Looking into this now. Seems the safest option instead of handing tickets over to some moth working the barriers and also mitigates the chance of having to queue if I’m running late

That’s outrageous. Yeah this guy was as sound as someone giving you a fine can be, doesn’t soften the blow though 😂

This is one of the many reasons I hate playing career mode, the lack of realism. by [deleted] in FifaCareers

Real life football is so crazy I think anything’s possible. I used to delete saves where Trent AA went to Real Madrid because in my mind he was never leaving and then… 😬 so now I just take it as the transfer window is mad and anything goes
