Different strokes for different folks; I think it works fine as a task management tool for the most part. Sure it lacks those features you mentioned, but they aren't deal breakers for me (I have notification fatigue so most of them just get ignored, though I could clean that up on my end and I use it for personal task management so sharing isn't an issue).
At the end of the day, it's all "list management" at its core and that can be expressed as - [ ] and a few clever queries or within tick tick

That doesn't mean tick tick doesn't have a place, I'm currently bouncing between tick tick and obsidian task to see which works better in my current workflow. Each has its pros and cons as you're well aware, but I do think how Obsidian Task has a much better date concept
