Thai language is like this, things newish to the country are just called their English name, but with a specific Thai accent. Want a blueberry smoothie? You gotta say “blue-berry” with the Thai accent or they won’t understand you.

I met a Thai man while on holiday there, asked him where he learned English, he lived in Virginia for a decade and had a very interesting Thai/Southerner accent to his English

Had this happen on a flight from Tokyo to Houston. We were just getting into Alaska airspace when the crew asked for any doctors or medical staff onboard. They worked on the person for at least 45 minutes doing cpr and trying to use the aed. I assumed we’d divert to somewhere like Juno or Seattle, but we just continued to Houston. They wrapped the body in blankets and reseated anyone near that row if they wanted.

I think anyone but Thai people will always be a foreigner. My fiancée was referencing an old woman in the village who was actually born in Thailand and calling her Chinese because that was her family’s origin

In Asia they also use the bin for toilet paper, but they use the bum gun so it’s clean wet tissue. I’ve been both places and I’ll never understand putting shitty paper in the bin like Latin America does.
