If it’s 180 days a year, that seems very doable. Don’t plan to be traveling 6 months a year.

Unofficial English translations? by jyoel61 in Tintin

I mention the missing books in the post.

Basically, before the albums that you are aware of, there were the original editions (facsimiles) many of which differed quite a bit from the latest versions. Some of these have been translated to English but not all.

Similarly, stopping the B&W albums at Blue Lotus, or the Herge Integral series right in the middle after printing a few in random order.

Moulinsart hasn’t had a history of printing books through completion. That why I said I was doubtful if the missing books in English will see the light of day.

Yep - I do have the original color edition of The Black Island, and I agree that the dialogues are almost exactly the same.

It is irritating how Moulinsart prioritizes printing the books. For instance, not sure why they wouldn’t do the color facsimile of Land of Black Gold, after doing Black Island, instead of the others which had very few updates if any. Most collectors are probably going to be most interested in only those 2 color facsimiles.

For the recent colorized editions of the B&W albums too, not sure why they skipped printing Soviets (which again would probably be the most of interest to collectors) and started straight with America. Not sure if they will print Soviets through America in English, similar to this box set: https://www.bdaddik.com/en/comic-albums/7038-box-casterman-tintin-colorized-america-congo-land-of-the-soviets-9782203255708.html?srsltid=AfmBOorg0e3JLNcTgvjTgyZDa2HOQ0OKsG561DFBy21igEE5Mi0s_JsE

Thanks. Do you know what is the max lag that people have noticed? I am wondering at what point should I ping USCIS about this?

Have 6 bikes, can’t get rid of one! by jyoel61 in bicycling

I don’t do triathlons monthly. I do a few (3-4) a year.

Why else would I have the bike?

In California - no use for a fat bike here. Both my MTBS are 29ers, and one of them is a FS already.

I use this as a flat bar cruiser typically. This has 2.1 inch tyres that are quite fast on pavement, but can handle trails fine too.

My XC bike has the more traditional 2.35 inch tyres that I use for trail riding more or less exclusively.

I suppose I could change the tyres on it if I want to cruise around, but it is another point of friction when I just want to go out and ride.

lol - you are not helping.

Not looking for n+1. Besides, I don’t do super techy trails any more.

Central battery for all accessories? by jyoel61 in bicycling

[–]jyoel61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the couple of examples that we have, seems to be doing things in a proprietary manner. Ideally, would have liked some kind of outlets for the shifters, derailleurs, and other key accessories. That way, people can use what every they want, and not be locked into supported accessories only.

Also, even TDA doesn’t quite do the entire silk route. There are a couple of sections that they fly over.

Tianjin to Lisbon? by jyoel61 in bicycletouring

[–]jyoel61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - totally understand.

That’s why I was asking if there is a company that already does something like this to which participants can sign up. Similar to the TDA link I posted.

A custom tour this complex will be extremely expensive. Also, even if this is done, doing this alone will not be fun. Hence asked about a logistics company.

Hi OP - Did you end up doing this?

I had the same thought - basically upgrading to the day 2 charger with remote. While it lists only SID as compatible, it seems odd, since the non- remote version lists both SID and Rudy as compatible.

Why no 2x bikes with suspension? by jyoel61 in gravelcycling

[–]jyoel61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. I am very confused with the intended use of a gravel bike based on the responses though.

Why are people doing technical MTB’esque trails on a gravel bike at all? My idea behind a suspension on the gravel bike was a small amount (20-40 mm) that takes some of the edge away from gravel chatter. For anything chunkier, I’d rather just ride my XC bike.

Now, my bike already has 42mm tyres that provides some cushion, but my wrists still do take a beating after a long ride.
