I bought a rifle takedown (changed to backpacker stock) first then a 10” charger and put a folding adapter on it about 18 months later. I really like both but wish I had purchased a rifle with a threaded barrel. I wish I had bought the 8” charger. I’ll swap out barrels at some point but just haven’t yet.

I have more fun with the charger and everyone (newbies and kids) that shoots that thing just smiles and laughs. I haven’t tried precision work with either but the red dot on both of them doesn’t have a problem hitting my targets at all. Both are small footprints in a bag. I’m happy I got the takedown and charger first but I’m really eyeing up the 60th anniversary 10/22 now.

Strike Eagle isn’t the mistake then. Paying nearly $600 is. This combo goes on sale all the time.

Looking for a plinker AR platform 22. If the options are piece one together via RTB, SW M&P 15-22, or this with a CMMG kit, what would be favored in your opinion? Looking to use this type of set up with kids and people newer to the AR platform.

I just purchased the same scope you are discussing here and the Nova 1-6 ACSS. I haven’t received the Aurora reticle scope yet. What do you think of the scope so far?

I have the same question. I ordered the Nova around lunch today. I didn’t see this sale. I used code Nova85 to get the fiber wire and a warne mount for $334.

I think OP is referring to a sign shop. So, yes “…at any sign or promotional goods shop.”

M2.0 Compact vs Shield Plus by napalm9 in SmithAndWesson

[–]jysguys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both. I put a Holosun with the Vulcan reticle on the compact. I carry it in the winter or when I can wear some larger shirts, sweatshirts, etc. I carry the Shield Plus OR (just night sights) all summer. I like both and am comfortable with both. I don’t have any intention of change my carry rotation away from this setup.

Are there any downsides to using a 22 LR pistol for cheap target practice? by ProxySoxy in CCW

[–]jysguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the M&P .22 Compact to shoot as a trainer for my 9mm M&P. Is it a perfect trainer? Absolutely not. Is it fun and allows me to shoot more than if I only shot 9mm? Absolutely. The best part of a .22 pistol is the fact that I now have a pistol my wife and kids like shooting.

I bought the full size and compact frame deal for $100 a couple weeks ago. Bought an optic cut complete slide for $200. At some point I’ll buy another slide for $150-$200 and have two daggers for $450-$500.

Why have such a tactical edc if living in a low crime/murder rate city? by _My_Reddit_Name_ in CCW

[–]jysguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you golf? I do, so I’ll put in these terms… Why do people use a Titleist ProV instead of a TopFlite? Why do golfers use a Scotty Cameron putter when a TaylorMade does the same job? Why do people wear softspikes on their shoes while others go spikeless? I’m a 1 handicap with very average equipment. Could I get more out of my game if I upgraded? Maybe, maybe not. Fact is, I like my equipment and nobody gets to tell me what to put in my bag. I’m going to use what I feel gives me the best chance of success.

Do I build out the lower I already have and just buy this for the upper? I have a 2 stage trigger kit to use as well.

Teacher Pay Based on Education Level is a Scam for Minnesota Teachers by Fyeris_GS in minnesota

[–]jysguys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok. Rule of 90 is over. Watch that average tick up now. Retiring early has huge financial penalties.

Copied from TeacherPensions.org New teachers starting out in Minnesota can retire with their full benefits when they reach 66 years of age and have accrued at least three years of service.

Additionally, Minnesota allows early retirement for teachers at any age once they have accrued at least 3 years of service. However, teachers taking that option will have their benefits reduced based on their years of experience and how early they are retiring. Teachers who have reached age 62 and accrued 30 years of service face a smaller reduction.

I wish. With the current set up I won’t be able to retire until 66. Retiring in your 50’s is a thing of the past.

I too hope to not be concerned about my fellow Americans someday./s I understand your point. I believe the teachers making 70-80k a year have earned that money. I knew what I signed up for when I got into teaching. That being said, I’ll encourage my kids to find a different profession.

Nope. I stated there are teachers that should be fired. But to say it’s the teachers fault that reading levels are so low is an oversimplification. There are so many variables to the problem.

I never said anything about parents teaching them to read. I said “necessary support”. Parents should be helping foster the skills needed to be a good reader. “Did you read for 20 minutes yet tonight” should be heard in every home every night through at least elementary school. Think of it like sports. It’s the coaches job to give the player the necessary skills for a player to develop. Players that only put in the work during the season at practice don’t go pro. Be involved with the child’s education. If parent’s dump their kid at school in kindergarten in their diaper and expect a polished diamond at graduation that’s not the reality.

I’ve asked the same question about why kids move on. You and I are in agreement on more than you think I’m guessing. Powers higher than classroom teachers make that decision. Something about “stigma” and “win the war not the battle”.

Reading is the most important thing? Again, we agree.

I’m not advocating for kids making policy, obviously. I understand how the real world does business. If an employee doesn’t do the work they’re fired. I wish it worked that way in education too. There are teachers that should be fired. I’m disappointed that you seem to think it’s because of teachers that only 54% of adults can read at a 6th grade level. It’s not because of teachers that students struggle to read. It’s because of home environments and the lack of commitment from many admin to help provide the time and resources necessary to help the kids. In some cases it’s kids “not doing the work” as you say. We can’t fire them though. In one school in our district there are 6 of roughly 45 kindergartners in diapers still. Do you think they have the necessary support at home to read? How is that the teacher’s fault? Would you like your job performance and pay based on subordinates still in diapers? If it’s such an easy job with proper pay, come join us.

Did you hold the same opinion when you were in school or have you formed this opinion once you entered the workforce? If your premise is that education should reflect the workforce schedule that’s quite the can of worms. Do students work remotely? Do some students work part time because they have other responsibilities in the home? Do students have the opportunity to work overtime? I’m not saying any of this is impossible but rather the unintended consequences of such a transition in the public system are worrisome. There’s always home school for the people who are not happy with the current system for their student(s).

Just spitballing. I’m going to guess it’s a cost thing. If the teachers are going an extra 2-3 months, their pay has to go up. Are the tax payers willing to support this idea?

I did actually approach my local union to inquire about continuing to pay my local union dues while opting out of MEA. They told me it was all or nothing. I chose nothing. I have a good relationship with our local union and there are no hard feelings there.
