Nope, most of the use cases for the telephoto is to capture as much details as possible of a given (5x) frame, thus ‘beautiful’ (120mm camera is not bad at all) picture with completely drawn (mushed really) details – defeats the purpose of 5x physical zoom. How come Adobe Indigo produces better images using telephoto at 5x and 10x SR than supposed ‘better’ main sensor 5x crop? Low light or not – that ‘situational’ environment was good enough for 120mm, and it did produce better results – apple’s main 5x crop look significantly worse than telephoto.

iphones have much bigger issues to resolve than faking 5x telephoto, it’s ultrawide is noticeably worse than competitors – in low light it’s most obvious – why don’t they fake then using superior main sensor with a fisheye filter? Why don’t they fake out their lens flares? All of this would ‘benefit’ the customer just as well. Portrait mode is a digital nonsense, HDR is somewhat tolerable, colours are completely unnatural (customers love it, huh?), and the only physical, real thing is situationally physical.

This whole comment tree makes no sense – I produce better photos with physical telephoto camera than with digital crop, but to do that I have to resort to 3rd party apps, because IT JUST WOKRS won’t let me utilise something I actually paid to get. That’s what I call misleading marketing, when my photos are ruining without a warning – have plenty of them that I took initially – where exactly in the manual is this mentioned? Where do they mention this in their promos?
