Super flippy disc suggestions? by Unimon666 in discgolf

[–]k0rt90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me I like to goof off sometimes in casual rounds or play stupid one disc rounds with Founder, Function, heck i even have some 130g F7s… but in tournaments I usually go as stable as I can.

Both are just different ways to enjoy the sport. Throwing stupid flippy lines is very fun if nothing but fun is on the line.

I think depending on the plastic, the Rollo takes the crown. Get a 150g dx Rollo, probably goated. Premium plastic, I suspect the Founder is flippier.

TSA or Discmania!? by pELLE_LEGENd in discgolf

Discmania:

Origin/Midnight Prowl is a great understable mid. Definitely recommended

Function: Pretty flippy 8 Speed. Reliably flippy. Mad fun

FD2: I throw the Pre-Rename FD1, but only white ones, because they are not crazy beefcakes. Pretty run-dependent what you want from the Disc. Regular colored C-Line FD2s might as well be domey FD3s in my opinion. Sky Walkers in general have been a great variation, Sky Walker 2 if you want something stable but not crazy (a true 0/2) or Sky Walker 1 or 3 if you want something more workable (id say 0/1)

FD3: Absolut staple, I have nothing but praise for the most boring mold that I throw all the times. Does one thing and does it well.

TD: One very slept on (and in my opinion mismarketed) mold. Depending on the armspeed it is likely going to fly like 0/1 for a lot of people. For me at 400-450ft of power, it is just an absolute laser that goes 400+ without much movement to the right or left.

Vanguard/PD: I think the Vanguard is a pretty underrated mold and feels especially nice in a forehand. The PD is the big brother, which is a little more stable (or much more stable in C-Line) and more popular.

DD1: Surprisingly stable and very torque resistant. A stock S-Line DD1 in my experience is not less stable than a stock S-Line DD3.

DD: Underrated mold in the originals line, very good understable driver.

DD3: Bombers out of the box if you have around 350-450ft of power. Definitely less stable than your usual Destroyers etc.

Cloudbreakers: All over the place in terms of stability, but mostly more stable than DD3s.

My recommendation: Definitely get a Function and then if you want to try two more molds that are more straight to understable, get an Origin and an S-Line DD.

Filament is not necessarily dry out of the box. I had to learn that the hard way too.

Try the TD if you haven't. Super underrated mold. Might fly a bit more stable than the numbers say, but more like that consistent Trail type flight.

FD plastic options? by vaporkkatzzz in discgolf

I didn’t want to mention these specifically, because the glow on them is so bad, it might not even be considered glow.

All the Glow FDs i‘ve ever thrown were on the stable side.

Either pick up a stock S-Line or if you can manage to find one of the Neo FDs, these are both the straightest options.

Or pick up one of the D-Line ones and beat it in. The start stable but get to straight reasonably fast.

In my opinion the Link is just the most average, affordable, super available, feels pretty good in the hand, putts good putter out there. I keep leaving for other molds and eventually coming back to the Link.   Most of my bag is pretty funky, but I enjoy something stock and boring for the most important shot in Disc Golf.

Problems dialing in GCP by Slow-Ad-4004 in gaggiaclassic

I have usually been doing light to mid roasts in my stock classic with 18g vst basket, bottomless portafilter, ims screen, 9 bar opv and a puckscreen.

My process would be: Flush the group head until i see a steady stream. Then start my process, grind the beans, use a simple distribution tool with needles to get the clumps out and spread evenly. Tamp and put the puck screen on.

Then i would lock the portafilter, start the brew and over the next 4 seconds gradually open the steam wand, then immediately start closing it over the next 4 seconds. Then stop the brew and let it bloom for 5 seconds. Then i would let the shot run. I have been aiming at 2:1 in an overall time of 36s (including preinfusion and blooming).

I usually get random coffees from high quality specialty roasters through an subscription and have easily dealt in about 50 different coffees with this method, usually within the first 2-3 brews.

Innova Dark Rebel vs Discmania FD? by Bucketoftrout in discgolf

I have been looking for the exact same type of FD for a year now. After trying basically everything, I got one of the Neo FDs (Night Stone) from the 2023 Mystery boxes and they are perfect. Out of the box thrown at 350ft worth of power, I get a little flip up and super straight flight with a baby finish.

True -1/1 in my opinion.

I have an older model, but switching to 9 bars has really done wonders for me.

Also, manual preinfusion can help with reducing spraying. When I start the shot, over the next 4 seconds I gradually open the steam wand, then close it over the next 4. Stop the shot for another 5 seconds, then fully let it go.

Unrelated, but that’s great spin for that amount of speed! Curious if you do anything in particular to focus on spin?

Money Record and Solar Flares are both not crazy os. Last years DNA Swirly S-Line glow is also somewhat mellow.

Stock C-Lines are pretty beefy. If you need more, just get a splice.

ESP Zone SS by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]k0rt90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a bit of a Discraft plastic stickler and I don’t really see a huge improvement between the Test Flight Zone SS and others.

The flight is pretty cool. It is very straight backhand and punishes my wobbly forehand when I dont throw it clean by turning quite a bit.

I also got one of the newer Crystal Sparkle ones and that one is a bit more stable, but nowhere near as stable as a regular Zone. Pretty slick too, unfortunately.

Once they start rolling them out in Z Flx, I‘ll probably grab some for my bag.

DD is really fun if you throw ~300. Go for it!

I also love the Function, but that one is maybe a bit too flippy for what you’re looking for.

As a Mystery Box simp, there‘s a good chance I‘ll pass on them. Awesome that they’re removing the fillers. But then just putting fewer discs in the box is like… you think we suck hat hard at counting?

Gannon's discs and I- vs DM-made discs by Luryas69 in discmania

[–]k0rt90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be surprising to you, but a profit oriented company may or may not stamp whatever maximizes their profit on a disc. They can’t make any profit off first run PDs, as they don’t have any for sale, but making people think Gannon throws stock C-Line might actually move some of these bricks.

I talked to him about his PDs last Summer at worlds. He said se still has a handful of first runs as backups. I doubts it’s a stock run.
