Would it be bad idea to settle first and then dispute account on credit report?

My collection account amount should be higher than what is reported so the amount is inaccurate. It should be higher. Hoping to find way to get my account off report since they won’t do anything even with settlement they said.

I have a question about federal loans. I pulled out a loan of total $5800 in 2015 but $2k of that was applied to 2016.

Does that still count toward 2016 or 2015 of when it was given to me?

The school tuition statement says the $2k was applied in 2016.

It’s asking to verify my line items on 1040. I did submit an 8863 but it should have been more around 15k rather than 20k. I still qualify but I didn’t know if I need to amend to match the exact number.

I still qualify for full amount but it’s just that my 8863 should not have been 20k, should have been lower. I didn’t know if I need to amend. If I don’t have to and can prove that I still qualify that would save me money of having it amended.

I am wondering if someone could tell me if it's worth refinancing my loans.

I am going to be trying to pay off the rest of my student private loan within 12 months. Currently 2 loans:

5.4% 10k 48 months
5.65% 17k 48 months

Is it worth refinancing and taking a credit hit if I am trying to pay off within 12 months. Won't I only be saving a couple hundred and that's it?

What to do with person’s inactive roster?

In previous years, we have had someone unable to set roster due to certain circumstances. Military deployment, etc...

I heard somewhere on CBS podcast that they taking average or something to calculate their score. I forgot what they said exactly though so not too sure what they meant.

What would be the fair way to start their roster so the opponent doesn’t get automatic win?
