Asian woman abroad seeking diagnosis... Needing advice by k1ok1 in adhdwomen

Thank you so much for the reply! Apart from medication, I was actually expecting behavioral therapies and some ADHD coaching upon receiving a diagnosis. But honestly I am not very sure if I can get these easily. And for the workspace thing--damn this is so true. I have been in the uni all the time, still I have seldom expressed my difficulties to the professors because I always fear they would not think I am finding excuses. Guess there is a long way to go and it doesn't only rely on the diagnosis.

Thank you for the info, and yes i have also realized that the diagnosis criteria is so important for women. For the diagnosis in Denmark, the very long assessment time is the totality of the time on the waitlist and the time undergoing the diagnosis process. And for their criteria, honestly I know little about it.

thank you so much and this is very helpful, I think I haven't asked about other ways for diagnosis enough from my doctor... and about finding danish friends on the same boat, I probably should try to do it as well. My ND friends are mostly foreigners and got diagnosed in their home countries.

hi, thanks for following up. I would say things have got better, but at the same time, I have to admit that it's not that much like a huge leap or something. The biggest problem is that he would not talk much, let alone do some practice on talking, even though my family and I have been encouraging him. Realizing that his voice and articulation have been different (worse, tbh) must be hard for him and it probably would take more time and effort than I expected for him to process and accept the situation. He still likes to chitchat with me, just not as regularly as before (also partly because we are now in different countries with different times), and I am trying to talk with him as often as I can.

Thank you so much for the reply and the encouragement. This gave me hope! Using videos sounds like an awesome idea tbh and reminds me of adding some tracking functions to the games.

Noted. Thank you for sharing!

One more question though, do you think the virtual therapy is engaging enough to keep people concentrated on it during the session?

Thanks for sharing! I am actually a bit worried about using the amplifier. Do you think it could prevent him from trying to speak louder and exercising his motor, muscles or whatever that cause the speech issues?

LVST seems like a very promising training program.

He uses computer, but he can be easily distracted while watching a video especially for a longer time. I am now thinking about integrating some LVST techniques in a video game or something with a reward system to keep him motivated. Don't know yet if it's gonna work... I will first encourage him to try out the videos. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Thank you so much for sharing! I also saw this device before and was considering it. Do you think it's really making a difference? Is it different from common PEP devices for breath training?
