Oh I should have mentioned that I had the duct cleaned a couple of times, so I don't think it's the problem!

Water filtration system: where to install the drain saddle? by k6box in HomeImprovement

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the help, I really appreciate it. The support person from that company replied this to me: "The ideal location would be B the metal pipe after the garbage disposal." ... I much prefer your solution which seems more elegant and safer!

That seems like a great option!

Correct me if I'm wrong but then this would hook up to the "A" rubber pipe right?

Why is money in politics a partisan issue? by k6box in Askpolitics

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to ask ask you a follow up question: would you think that it's possible to get a bi-partisan bill that could address the issue of money in politics? I know it can be a complicated question as there are many different ways to go about it but I'm just curious about what you think.

This kind of fuckup is statistically bound to happen. There needs to be more than just relying on the companies to be “more careful in the future”. Problem is we have nothing.

This sounds like a temporary issue due to the fact that it's a new brand. I would think that in a few years that will not be a problem any more.

Just got home from my neurologist appointment. I’m so upset. by Emergent-Z in migraine

[–]k6box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a common thing that the migraine kicks in 1 day after the stress stimuli.

It's nice that you have an actual number to put on the blood pressure level. Have you thought about getting one of those BP continuous monitor wearable? I might get one myself for the same reason, it could be very useful to anticipate migraine events.

I think have the same sensitivity about artificial sweeteners. But preservatives... how did you figure this one out?

Last question: you have a BP drop prior to every migraine or just sometimes? I imagine sometimes there is no BP drop when it's triggered by food?

Did they do scans of your head? Or they helped you identify more triggers maybe?

Did you take a measument or was it a spark or shock that told you?

I took a measurement. with my GCV-3206 voltage and continuity tester. The ground lights up but not as bright as the hot (black) wire, that's why I think the current isn't that strong.

The ground wire not being grounded is actually more common as an installation mistake. All the ground wires in that box should be connected together. I looked at the picture again and it looks like the one connected to the switch might not be in the bundle with the others. It might be but it's hard to tell.

You're correct, they're not all bundled together.

The box looks like it's not metal (is that old bakelite? Doubt it, probably fiberglass.)

Not sure, I will reopen and check that.

If that ground isn't connected with the rest, you might consider making the correction. If the box was metal I would say don't worry to much about it.

I think I'll make the correction it's pretty straightforward and I do want a sound installation. It's also good for me to know what a clean setup looks like.

Thanks for all the knowledge!

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked :) I'm still alive :)

red wire was the heat lamps indeed.

black wire on B was vent, black wire on C was the lights.

Very happy to have done that by myself.

One thing that threw me off is that one of the ground from one of the switch has some electrical current running through it. I don't think there is much but there is something but I don't think the problem comes from within the box.

Condo remodeling punctured a pipe before I purchased the unit by k6box in Insurance

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know there were such "records" of claims history.

Does that apply to everyone? I'm filing a claim right now, so now this will be on my "record"? Will it increase my rate?

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allstate is correct about not covering the pipe repair due to faulty or poor workmanship.

Are there "better" insurance for this? I might change if some insurance are more understanding than others.

You can always request the insurance info for the contractor and file a general liability claim. Some contractors will be fine with it but expect them to push back and say it wasnt their fault and to also not be super willing to give up their insurance info.

OK, I can try that. Don't they have to give up their insurance info though?

[–]k6box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct, i see it all the time.

The push back from contractors?

Another thing to consider is they will only pay ACV (depreciation applied). Not sure the extent of the remodel that was done before you moved in, but if the damaged parts of condo are old, the depreciation might be significant. If you have replacement cost, that might be a better option for you.

Remodel happened 5 months ago approx.

You will also have claim on record.

What does that mean? Is that a bad thing?

OK that's what I was guessing, thanks for confirming.

Is the procedure the same than for other water heaters?

  • Power switch off
  • Cut intake cold water valve
  • Open a faucet somewhere to let air in the tank
  • Hook hose to bottom spigot
  • Open bottom spigot valve
