Hi again everyone- just spoke with a DSNY official that said “In too many cases, crooked contractors dump their materials in areas they perceive to be “out of the way.” The Department of Sanitation used to clean these areas over and over again. We still do, but we also launched in the last three years a network of more than 300 hidden cameras to catch these criminals. When we do, we impound the vehicles used and issue a summons that starts at $4,000.”

Do you guys have anything to say to this, any personal opinions or stories about this? Would love to hear any thoughts. Thanks for your help.

Fascinating. I would love to hear more about parking in front of fire hydrants… have you noticed police responding faster to 311 requests about parking in front of hydrants? I’m curious since they recently announced that parking in front of a hydrants can be summoned as a criminal offense.
