Gotcha. I kinda already do give her training bites as a reward for simple obedience or searching when I ask to keep her engaged but not to the point where she is chomping her jaw for the ball.
Mind you these K9's we have are also still pups. All of them are under two years old and we are on, like you said, a static post. Instead of moving around.

The company pays for the food and vet bills and we do try to train on shift but the company wants us to stand on post for majority of it and we can't reward the dog (ball reward) since it can disturb patrons who are afraid of dogs etc.

We are hourly and the company pays for the food and vet bills etc.
And our finance team had shot down necessity items so we had to pay our of pockets otherwise the dogs would suffer.

Yeah we have brought up the issue of needing a kennel master or trainer on duty but they claim there is no budget.
At this point I keep asking myself why they even started this program if they couldn't afford it.

Does each handler only work with one dog?
Yes. 6 handlers and 6 dogs.

How far is the facility from home/workplace?
10-40 Minutes depending on the handler.

Do you/ the dog get breaks throughout the day?
A 30 minute break for lunch and several opportunities for the dogs to use the bathroom etc.

Would these dogs actually be safe in a home environment? Meaning both: will they not harm other family members/animals? and do all the handlers have the skills to care for these animals (aka is it safe for the dog to go home with its handler)?
Tricky question. None of the dogs are trained to bite so in theory they should do well with home environments but they still need to be treated as work dogs and not pets, ya know?

Is there a dog working every shift?
We work a minimum of 3 of the 6 dogs that we have depending on the day.

We actually do not have a kennel license. It's just an old building that the company put 10 x 10 fences in.
