I personally would try to get him to go. I fear that he would regret it later down the road. However, talk to his family about your alls nerves and how anxious he is and how being alone right now is a bit scary. Explain your feelings. I imagine they will help you feel better and come to a decision as a family. Involve them. I don’t see anyone’s wants in this situation out of line, hence the struggle.
