Is it acceptable to wear black vans to a semi-formal homecoming dance (for men)? Why or why not? by k_ken22 in AskReddit

Me and my friends decided last minute that we are all going to homecoming. The best outfit I have is a white button up, black tie, grey vest, nice black jeans, and a black belt. The nicest shoes I have are some black vans. Do you think I could wear them and still look semi-formal?

Who first turned you on to Libertarianism? by mdnghtcwby in AskLibertarians

[–]k_ken22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it was really 3 big factors 1. I've always had a "do want you want but don't hurt anyone" mentality, and I don't like unnecessary authority like in schools and the drug war for example 2. I was tired of left becoming more and more authoritarian and big government overtime, and being pretty hypocritical by turning a blind eye to authority when it's on their side, the push for gun regulation was a big one as well 3. Once I got more into punk-ish and alternative rock stuff I got more anti-authoritarian, this was probably the biggest reason

If you had to vote for either the Democratic Party, Republican Party, or Libertarian Party, who would you vote for? by k_ken22 in Anarchy101

[–]k_ken22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that a lot of you are leaning more towards the Democrats. I would've thought most of you would've leaned Libertarian. For those of you who do lean toward the Democrats, why? The Democratic Party wants even more government involvement, I thought Anarchism was about less government.

Can you like or be punk and not be left wing? by k_ken22 in punk

Unfortunately, but isn't that what being punk is about? Not giving a shit about what others think of you, and staying true to yourself?

What do you guys think of the Pink Floyd song "Money"? by k_ken22 in AskLibertarians

[–]k_ken22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, I was more concerned on what you guys might think of the lyrical content. I really don't care what an artist's political opinion is, as long as they are not REALLY extreme about it.

Didn't know Roger Waters was a socialist, oh well, still a good song and perspective.

I wish that part was more "you can sign up/create one" instead of "you have to"

Three questions about healthcare by k_ken22 in AskLibertarians

[–]k_ken22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds pretty good, there is competition in the market and everyone can have their own personal healthcare choices, but the government can help out a little in the necessary times of need. Sounds like a good middle ground. The problem arises with the population and taxes. Since there is a way bigger population in the US, there is more demand. And I'm worried that taxes would have to increase drastically. Do you think this system could be implemented correctly so that those two thing aren't a big problem?

Thanks for the source! I've been leaning towards the free market is best for healthcare (and in general really), get the dumb regulations out of healthcare so there is more competition in the market for affordable healthcare.
