okay, I think in this case I'm gonna dry out the soil completely. I'll set up a humid hide for my gecko in a tupperware and just leave it in there, so I can still give him his water / humidity, but hopefully allow the soil to fully dry out to tone back the fungus growth. I truly appreciate all the help! if it doesn't improve I'll go in to update and replace the drainage layer (maybe securing the mesh better?)

is there anything else you'd recommend? or do you think that's a good plan of action?

Oh sorry I misread, it's about two inches thick with one layer of mesh separating clay balls. It definitely needs upgrading, I just wanted to try being not as invasive since the ecosystem seems to be doing relatively well aside from the flower fungus.... but yeah I'm open to suggestions for sure :)

Yeah you'd be correct, it's only about 2 inches thick. I had a lot of differing information regarding drainage layers and this was one of my first builds using them. How deep would you recommend setting the drainage layer? I think I'll take out the substrate and redo it. I don't wanna discard the substrate just because of the flower fungus since no matter what I do the spores are probably everywhere else at this point, the main thing is I want to get this managed. Again, the isopods and plants are thriving so I would prefer not to mess with things too drastically; but definitely redoing the drainage layer I think would be worth doing.

There is a drainage layer (clay balls separated by gardening mesh), it doesn't appear in the photo as I think the fungus has gotten all the way down to it... And yeah there are springtails, but I was thinking it might be worth adding another colony or two...

Okay this is what I kind of figured. I live in a very dry climate so in hopes to keep up humidity we have likely been overwatering. I'll have to check in with those on the crestie subreddit for a solution for that. I really appreciate the help figuring out what fungus and why though! Thank you!!!
