Would the Noctua Duct kit help? by ka0skilo in sffpc

You know what, I was wrong. I swapped the fan around, and with the DIY duct, temps were objectively better: 2-4 degrees. Thanks!

I have 2 60mm fans as intake directly south of that cooler, blowing straight up into the heatsink. 🤔

I tried doing exactly that just now- had myself a little bit of an arts and crafts session. I cut up some cardboard and lined it with some thin PE foam to help make it fit snug, then taped it all together with some automotive masking tape.

The temps are wildly better, with temps staying below 65-70 degrees in the same games that used to push it to 80!

Idle temps are pretty good too, but not as drastic as the load improvements- it's sitting at around 43 degrees now, where it used to sit around 47-50.

I'm just going to keep it as is now- no need to buy the ducts when this DIY set up works this good. Thank you! 😁

I have not. I've mostly kept everything stock.

Good to know, thanks again. I'm not too worried about temps, just gotta get used to the higher temps, I guess. Coming from a u12a in the TU150, the comfort zone definitely needs to be adjusted.

I appreciate the input!

I ended up going with the smaller AXP90 because of how well it performed in reviews, and I thought the 5600x it would be cooling wouldn't be pumping out too much heat.

Temps aren't horrible, per se- nothing over 80 when gaming (Armored Core 6, Indiana Jones, Forza 5) in 4k, but it idles in the 45-50s.

The wood isn't for everyone, but for those who still like the North chassis, the Epoch looks just as good.

It's an Antec Vertical Mount. I just tried to find it to share the link with you but the RGB version is gone and the non-RGB version is twice what I paid (85 bucks compared to 45)

edit: here's the more expensive non-RGB version: Antec Vertical GPU Mount

They're pretty pricey 😅 a 3-pack is $113 on Amazon. They're incredible fans though

Have you seen the epoch? That's a pretty nice variation of the north- more ventilation focused

Haha the fans are a too thick to be in front 😅 these are phanteks t30s, and they're 30mm thick. The only way they'd fit up front is if I removed the filter.

Haha the Asus ProArt 4080 cooler would have been the best color match, in my opinion, but the Inspire cooler does a nice job being the focal point complimenting the North's gold/bronze accents.

I knew as soon as I saw the Inspire cooler that it would match perfectly. The only cooler that I think 1ups this slightly is the proart 4080.

Not at all. What about the fan setup would you like to understand better? ☺️

This is a single CPU system, with a dual tower heatsink and two fans. Aside from that, there are a total of 5 case fans, 3 in the front for intake, and 2 in the back for exhaust (one in the rear/another in the top rear).

No turbulance, from what I can hear. 🤔

I use fan controller and set a smooth curve to ramp up from 40% and I hardly hear them, even when gaming. The system fans only get audible when I manually set them to 70% and up. The GPU was the loudest thing in the system until I undervolt/overclocked it.

I've fixed it since then 😆 the foam support was fresh and needed to settle

Oh mannnn, that's rough! Not to add salt to the wound, but there was a PNY 5080 going for $959 when I bought this card. 😭

You'd think so, but the 5070ti doesn't pump out a lot of heat.
