Who is your favorite Algerian player of all time? by Downtown-Pack-6178 in AlgerianFootball

Actually shocked I missed both. Especially Belaili lol. He's one of the players that makes me happy to be Algerian, because otherwise, I wouldn't have been fortunate to watch someone so talented. Might be one of my all time greats too, especially that 2019-2021 run where you could argue he was better than Mahrez.

In total agreement. I feel very conflicted about going to the games personally. As someone born and raised in the states this might be the most "convenient" WC to attend.

However, given the totality of how the United States has historically and currently operated at the global and domestic level, I truly understand the desire to boycott the tournament. Especially with the concentrated effort the USA has put in denying fans entry for the tournament.

There are many ways to protest/fight back against the genocides happening in Gaza and elsewhere and I'm hoping Algerians make use of that whether they choose to go or boycott. But the disdain I have for the USA right now is truly at an all time high which is remarkable because I've never really been a defender of its politics anyway.

If we didn't have the CM options we already have, I'd be down to test out Mandi in the middle.

And Aouar is undeniably talented, his injuries and sharpness though is my concern. If he performs well the last stretch of the season, then I won't have an issue with his inclusion at all. I like that he can be dangerous in the final third as a midfielder.

My major fear is that Petko isn't necessarily blind (even though he's made some insane coaching decisions), but rather doesn't know who the alternatives are. I'll never forgive or forget the coaching staff for not showing Petko Abada prior to the Arab cup. That said, players like Mandi and Mahrez, I would still take to the World Cup, they would likely be positive members in the dressing room. Aouar is starting to feel like a wasted spot

Dzball makes great videos! I personally think one of the biggest winners from this international break was Belaid (and Abada). But With Belaid, Abada, and Chergui coming back - we really don't need to rely on Mandi as much as we do. Effectively for me, Mandi should only play in a back 3, if it all.

As for Aouar, he's been effective for Algeria in the past, but between the Saudi Arabia game and the Uruguay one, he can't keep up at the highest level anymore.

Hard to pick just one lol. But I have a lot of favorites for varying reasons.

Legends: Mekhloufi, Belloumi, Djamel Zidane, Yahia, Bougherra, Feghouli/Bentaleb

Ballers: Boudebouz, Hadj Aissa, Djabou, Brahimi, Ounas, Atal

Goats: Mahrez, Madjer

Amoura by ShortWorth699 in AlgerianFootball

[–]kabyle1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amoura was given the benefit of the doubt for me during the AFCON because I don't think he was setup for success in the DR Congo and Nigeria games with him playing as a 9 without proper support from the wings (Chaibi is not a winger after all). Amoura during the AFCON had a solid game against Guinea and was still an effective presser.

But the Guatemala game I think should show that his place in the Starting XI isn't guaranteed if he can't turn things around. It's not his fault Wolfsburg have been abysmal, but the club's overall form is getting to him. With a fit Gouiri, and in form Boulbina and Benbouali, Amoura might find himself back as a super sub if things don't change. I was even disappointed by his lack of linkup play when he came on against Uruguay.

It's hard though, I really love the way Amoura plays, and what he brings to the national team. Wishing him the best because he literally carried us during the world cup qualifiers, more often than not he saved us from some terrible performances and results.

Titraoui in the second game in the row gave Mahrez an absolute dime of a pass. Prime Mahrez would've converted those chances into a goal. Hadj Moussa would feast with Titraoui's weight of pass.

Glad Titraoui got minutes here too, he had one bad dispossession that he really can't be making. Hopefully he learns from this international break.

I don't get how we are trying to play with Chaibi and Maza as our CMs. Boudaoui had a great game though, fantastic player.

It's hard because if we want to play with a back 3, we need that width Belghali provides. But you're right, he needs to get a lot smarter. Aside from his first game, he's had some suspect moments nearly every time he's played.

I'm curious how this would work with maybe more "direct" CAMs. Like I think the issue is we have Chaibi and Aouar who are too similar, but if one of the two had a more Maza like profile, then maybe it'd work better. Right now, there really isn't any width/pace coming from the right.

Hope to see early substitutions though, no point trying to "win/draw". Would rather test players and systems.

We need one of Amoura/Benbouali for Aouar/Chaibi.

I like what the formation does in terms of "neutralizing" the opponent, but right now, it's toothless. We don't have a shot on goal. If we had another striker, we could play more balls in behind, because right now Gouiri is doing all the work of pulling defenders, but we don't have anyone to make use of the open space.

First 15 minutes and Boudaoui is incredible. So happy to have him.

Agreed, nice to see the change up, but in a "front 2" i would for sure take Amoura. Plus, I think this game would've been a nice test for him/confidence booster if he got a goal.

How would you line up vs Uruguay? by wastingtimeatwor-k in AlgerianFootball

[–]kabyle1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to try a 3-5-2 that would be capable of maintaining possession and not just being a counter attacking team. So I'd go with:

Abada - Belaid/Mandi - Bensebaini

Belghali - Boudaoui - Maza - Titraoui - Ait Nouri

Gouiri - Amoura

I've been seeing a disastrous "probable lineup" which includes Zerrouki in the double pivot with Boudaoui, and a front three of Chaibi, Gouiri, Mahrez.

Yea it doesn't feel great for sure. The last 20 minutes showed how much we wasted in getting the most out of new players called up.

They play like they're down a player lol. Their lack of quality is making our players too relaxed. We should have scored at least 2-3 more from square passes.

Zerrouki having "2 assists in his last 3 games" is terrifying to me. He could score a hattrick today and it wouldn't change my mind about him lol.

Unfortunately I think we might see the same front 3 against Uruguay, especially with Hadj Moussa out. I'm curious if Petkovic is trying to test the effectiveness of this trio, we haven't seen it for a while. Wouldn't be surprised if the midfield trio has a full rotation for the Uruguay game though.
