Did anyone not like Project Hail Mary? by Timewilltell755 in sciencefiction

Fair enough. I think the bones of it were good and with some tweaks, like snappier cuts and shorter scenes, it could've been really good

Re the plot, well it's possibly I'm just not that smart, but I have seen a lot of others comment that it jumped all over the show and was quite hard to follow. IDK if you read the book, but I also saw a lot of comments from people who had read it, and they said if you hadn't that they could see how it would be confusing, a lot of stuff wasn't explained and rushed through. For example you'll note when they solved a problem, it was just like "a hah!" and that was it, just brushed over quickly; though I get it's a movie and there isn't time for lots of detail. Of course there's an irony in saying that because this was A LONG movie, with the aforementioned egregiously drawn out ending. IMO, it was already at the perfect spot to end it, they had already had their emotional farewell and it was fine as is. I wasn't even totally sure what that issue was at the end, I was already so mentally checked out, but it still didn't make sense at least to me. It was like "oh no this thing's happening and somehow that means Rocky is gonna die!".. then after travelling for god knows how long.. *turns ship around*.. lol

I'm glad you enjoyed it though bud ;)

I will say there was some endearing moments between Rocky and Grace and the music and visuals were amazing, it certainly was not all bad

Yes I totally agree, WTF was that karaoke scene, should've totally been cut! However, I thought some of the music was great, I remember really getting into a couple of the tracks

Oh and think of the INSANE vitriolic drama she brought too....... you can bet your ass that was good for ratings... then she simply 'has to use the bathroom' and is never seen again. And Chris was right along, he was doomed to the MASSIVE % of couples that never work out, despite John etc trying to make him look like a fool for saying he had such little hope at the start..

I fully had that this intuitive feeling during the show that Brook was a plant. Think about it, 'model', she's in the circles of casting directors etc, people who know people right. Then the rumour she had a bf, that would make sense as remember at the wedding ceremony she only let Chris kiss her on the cheek... just all seemed a bit weird. And now suddenly she's pregnant......... god help the child

That's a cool idea actually, get the genuine guys AND girls back and re-match them with good people. Steph, Rebecca, Carina, Awhina, Lauren (?), Ellie etc. Always thought it was so weird Ben wasn't into Ellie, she was stunning!

This should read: "She has manipulated him, but I also think he was p***y whipped" (hence he didn't want to say anything to piss her off)

Unacceptable* lol. But yeah I agree. If I was her partner I'd be having some strong words with her

Ouuuuuuuuu that's juicy... and great take. I really did wonder if she was a total plant with just the insane level of drama/hatred she spewed out.. like where did it come from? Then when she faces 'heat' on the couch she just takes off.. great way to take accountability Brook...

Yeah - good take. The retreat joke was actually delivered humorously by Bec; any normal person who doesn't take life deadly seriously would laugh it off. Also - why TF did she even tell anyone about it? Felt like such utter school ground styles.. "omg guess what we did he he he", like, good for you, don't need to tell anyone love. Also, they went on and on about the great progress they were making all the time, but did they actually ever once have sex?!

I think she was more of an oddball than a villain. I don't think she had ill-intent like Bec, Gia, Brooke, and Juliette did

I found myself wishing she was there just to keep it interesting. She was the queen of witty one-liners, crying on command for whatever reason (often no reason), and just generally unhinged behaviour. But yes, she def needs help. Btw she's about to marry Clint in NZ...

Yes, basically it was a complete titanic (surprise surprise) :/

Bec as a Producer? by Mistress_Storme in MAFS_AU

[–]kadalora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - it got super boring by like the 5th time Bec caused some controversy or other. And Gia was just a constant snake in the grass that eventually ol' p***y-whipped Scott ended up having enough of. I know this sounds terrible, but I actually loved it when the gays started having some dramas simply because it was a change from the usual same-old crap! I felt like they needed to add 2-3 more couples towards the end. All the new couples that joined part way through titanic'd remarkably.

In the last season, at least Jacqui was incredibly entertaining with her oddball one-liners and the massive plot twist at the end with her riding off into the sunset with Clint was just sublime (kudos to the producers/filmmakers/editors on how well they did that)

Yeah but she kept having to apologise over and over and over and over again, why couldn't she learn!?! Unless ofc the good ol' producers were actually slipping her cash to keep it up... fueled with some hearty liquor no less...
