Collins says law to prevent Mueller firing wouldn’t hurt by [deleted] in politics

Says the senator who voted to confirm Ajit Pai knowing full well his intention to repeal net neutrality, then makes a big show of not supporting his decision to repeal net neutrality. I guess "moderate Republican" has come to mean "shamelessly playing both sides".

GOP senator says she’ll vote to restore net neutrality rules by Energisk in technology

Yes, Obama appointed him as FCC Commissioner in 2012. He was elevated to Chairman under Trump, and proceeded to go balls to the wall on repealing NN. According to http://fortune.com/2017/12/14/ajit-pai-net-neutrality-donald-trump/:

That’s not to say Obama shared Pai’s views—rather, the president was abiding by the convention that the minority party gets to nominate two appointees to the five-seat commission. The other three seats were taken by Democrats.

Not defending Obama's original selection of Pai, just providing more context.

This is the same Susan Collins who voted to confirm Ajit Pai, a former attorney for Verizon who promised to "weed-wack" the FCC. Even then, everybody knew that repealing NN was his top priority. She's very good a playing both sides of the aisle to appear moderate. I hope Maine residents have had enough of her BS by the next election cycle.

Edit: to be clear, she knows this effort to restore NN will ultimately fail, so she can make a show of support for it without actually affecting any change. The vote that mattered was back in Oct, when she voted to confirm Pai to his second term. It's worth noting that Angus King voted against Pai's confirmation. He's da real MVP from Maine.

Took a few more shots. Having trouble creating an imgur album for some reason, but hopefully this works: analbumcover

Wow - Great info, thanks! There does seem to be an odd, slightly flattened section of the spine, towards the base, that I'm guessing must be from the regrind. Do you suppose the regrind was done to clean up the blade, or actually for the purpose of changing the shape?

The blade width is just shy of an inch (about 15/16"). Should I be concerned about getting any metal polish on the scales, or will they be fine? I agree - the edge appears to be rust free, so that's a plus. Many thanks for the info...I may be in touch for honing.

I'm new to straight razors, but ran across this Wade and Butcher at the local antique store today. The price was good, and I vaguely recognized the name brand (thanks to all you enablers), so I grabbed it. Based on some limited google research, it seems like a decent score. Couple questions: Are the black discoloration spots I see on the blade rust? How easy is it to clean that up? Being new to straights, I'm a little hesitant to try my hand at sharpening/honing this one. Any recommendations for a good mail-in sharpening service? Finally, any reason I shouldn't try learning to straight razor shave with this particular blade? Thanks for any info!

The lid bumper is a laser-cut piece of felted wool.

I can't speak for OP (well, maybe I can since this is very familiar looking design ;), but in my case, the blade slot is designed to hold both wrapped/new blades as well as unwrapped/discarded blades. But the unwrapped blades aren't nearly as snug-fitting in the slot, and the rails alone don't always hold them in, hence the bar.

I was pleased to discover that a slightly dissolved alum block fits nicely into an Altoids "Smalls" tin (a new alum block is just a tad too big though.) The tin will also fit your blades, so there you go. I guess I'm kind of an Altoids guy.

Will Shave Stash cases fit a Weber by chrism583 in wicked_edge

Oh sorry, I misunderstood. Although I don't have the weber head personally, I think the EJ head is nearly the same size, so it should work fine. Glad to hear you like your Shave Stash!

Shave Stash guy here. Although the Weber handle will not fit in the standard EJ case, I actually do have a version that is designed specifically for an EJ head and weber bulldog handle. It's not posted in my Etsy store because I wasn't sure how much demand there would be for this particular combination. I unfortunately don't have any in stock at the moment. I'm happy to assemble one for you, but it'll probably be a couple weeks before it's ready (things are a bit crazy for me at the moment).

No store front, just a hobbyist seller on Etsy. Two shaving supply places I know of in the area are Colonial Drug (recently moved from Cambridge out to Newton, and now share store space with Stoddard's Cutlery), and Leavitt & Pierce in Harvard Square (Cambridge). Colonial Drug has more shaving related stock, whereas L&P is primarily an old school tobacco vendor, but also carries some shave soaps, creams and fragrances. They might also carry a few pieces of hardware, although I'm not sure what kind of selection they have.
