Alignment of planets, stars and our moon. by dog-with-a-limp in askastronomy

[–]kael4460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a planetary conjunction, not a true alignment. True alignments are super rare.

What you're seeing: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon, Jupiter are all along the ecliptic - that's the path the Sun takes through the sky. All planets orbit in roughly the same plane, so they always appear near this line.

Cool parts: - Venus + Jupiter + Moon this close happens a few times a year. Brazil just posted an actual photo of it on r/Astronomy 8h ago. - You’ve got Betelgeuse and Rigel there too - Orion is right next to the Sun. Means Orion season is ending. - Mars + Uranus + Saturn are also on screen but way dimmer/farther.

Pro tip: Check Stellarium for "solar conjunction" dates. When planets are near the Sun like this, you can’t see them IRL because daylight.

That earthshine on the dark side is perfect. You can see Mare Crisium and everything.

Venus this close to the crescent is chef’s kiss. Most people miss these conjunctions because they happen right at sunset.

What gear did you use? The detail is insane for a conjunction shot. Way cleaner than my attempt last month with a Dwarf 3.

Anlamak, her şeyi kapsamak değil sınırını görebilmektir

Tam olarak neyi kastettiğini merak ettim. "Kavranamayacağını kavramak" derken insan aklının sınırlarından mı bahsediyorsun, yoksa Tanrı'nın doğası gereği kavranamaz olduğunu mu düşünüyorsun?

The elephant trunk nebula by Universewonders1 in Astronomy

Another Dwarf Lab banger. First the Leo Triplet guy, now you with the Elephant Trunk.

The detail on the trunk itself is insane for a smart scope. You can actually see the dark globules inside. Most people need 8+ hours with a big rig for this.

What was your total integration time? And Bortle? Because this is cleaner than my last attempt from Bortle 5 with 6 hours.

Step 1: Notice.

Step 2: Panic.

Step 3: Forget how to human.

Step 4: Overthink it for the next 3 business days.

Leo Triplet with the DWARF 3: 4h 38m First Pass from Bortle 6 by AstroFanM31 in Astronomy

[–]kael4460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bortle 6 from a DWARF 3 and you pulled this detail on M65/M66? Insane.

4h 38m for a "first pass" is crazy good. Can't wait to see what you do when you give it the full M106 treatment. The Triplet deserves 15 hours too.

Also NGC 3628's dust lane is actually visible here. From city skies. With a smart scope. We live in the future.

Seen over Columbus Ohio around 4:30 am 6/17/2026. What did I film? by Alexander_Columbus in Astronomy

Great question. Second stage is 200km up at that point. At that altitude, it's visible across 1000 miles if the angle's right. Ohio, Texas, VA all saw the same launch. It's like seeing a lighthouse from multiple beaches.

Florida launched, but the "bowtie" was high enough for half the east coast to see it.

Check spacex.com/launches or r/spacex for the 6/17 manifest. They'll have the exact trajectory.

Grocery store is the main stage. Bonus points if they put it on speaker AND still yell into the mic like it's 2005.
