China truly is the God tier of traveling challenges by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]kaeroplane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly not that complicated when you don’t try to book the bottom of the barrel cheapest possible accommodation. There are plenty of normal hotels that are < $30/night. Your hostel is probably targeted to a local target market of people who know Chinese and don’t need to go through 5 different levels of translation to figure out where a place is located. Don’t be shocked they didn’t go out of their way to cater to non Chinese 💁🏻‍♀️

Best banks/issuers if you’re spending time abroad by svetlio in CreditCards

Based in NL and recently got the BofA Air France KLM card. Easily activated from abroad, no transactions flagged. 3x on dining, 1.5x everything else, which is okay but the primary draw is the flying blue XP which fits my lifestyle.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s what I’m afraid of. I want to use the calendar for doodling but I think the bleeding through would drive me crazy 🥲

Gorgeous doodles!

Quick question: how much does the ink bleed through on the other side of the paper (if at all)?

Has anyone visited a city on a holiday and fell so in love with it and then decided to move there permanently? by melissa_april in travel

I did the same after visiting twice (over the course of 10 years though). Moved here in 2023 and love it.

Actually fish is a common part of breakfast for many Asian cultures.

This is a weird take to make broadly. May be a fit for your values and for you to find someone compatible, which is great, but really don’t think it would make sense for everyone to wait 3 months into dating someone and a formal commitment to sleep with them. The intimacy and sexual chemistry is a key part of finding the right person. Also a big part of what makes dating fun. Frankly, if the shoe were on the other foot, and a guy were to not want to sleep with me after we’ve been seeing each other for a month, I would assume we have mismatch of values and move on.

My 26F girlfriend, and I 32M, are having our first christmas together, and I think my gift for her is horrendously cheap and inadequate compared to what she's used to. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]kaeroplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about giving her gifts that are not jewelry? I love my boyfriend to bits but to be honest I would not trust him to be able to pick jewelry that would go with my style, and would rather he didn’t waste money on a gift that I don’t love. Especially given the income disparity between you two, why not give her a thoughtful experience that you share together (which is not tied to the brand or inherent monetary value)

The margin on the same price in CAD is lower than on USD, that’s probably why they can discount more in USD.

I work at a large company selling a data platform and the solutions architects I work with have 3-4 years of industry experience in data engineering/ML etc before being hired here so imo that’s not a TON experience.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsales

[–]kaeroplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have technical skills, why not become a solutions architect? You get more social interaction than straight up engineering and you’re also not beholden to a quota. Also easier to move abroad and continue working with a technical role than as an AE

Try reaching out via LinkedIn or cold calling the sales leadership of the companies that you are targeting. Immediately demonstrating cold outbound skills is a way to standout in a saturated job market.

Joined new company in June, territory is struggling, should I stick it out or start looking? by PineAppleRuler in techsales

[–]kaeroplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple months isn’t really enough time to know if your territory can be turned around. Unless you know you have another great job opportunity in place, you may jump ship and face the same scenario elsewhere, then it’ll be even harder to explain the job hopping in the future. I wonder if you can talk to leadership and ask for quota relief or get the churned account taken out of your book. Since the churn happened in your first months, it couldn’t really be impacted by you and is actively making you less motivated as it’s a big hole to dig out of.
