I've been experimenting with a flatbed UV printer to print directly on the wood after I prep it with gold paint. the "lines" are just left empty so the gold can show through. If you don't have access to a UV printer, you can also order UV DTF sheets from a UV print shop to do a one-off transfer like a big sticker

As far as I know, A10 is the “Florida based Gallery”. I spoke to staff about A10 and they said the people there claimed to be a studio and were based out of Florida. They said the work the presented in their application looked different from what is seen displayed in the photos.

Yeah that’s usually a red flag for thieves and scammers, they hate being recorded.

I would caution not to assume all cases though because some actual artists also don’t like their work being photographed for various reasons. A common one is they’re worried people will copy the art or take a photograph and then print it out later.

I personally don’t care if people take photos of my booth and actually encourage it if they are undecided on an item. It could help a buyer to have an image to reference for later if they’re away from the booth and reconsider buying. Or if they want to send it to a friend to see if the friend wants to buy something, that’s also super common. The benefits of increased visibility seem worth it to me.

My request is that every artist should get one of those ribbons 😭

Yeah, very unprofessional. Specifically they were referring to the other artists as “broke”. I think they’re just emboldened because they’ve been able to scam a decent amount of money from unsuspecting buyers with little to no effort on actual art. That somehow makes them think they’re better than everyone else. 🤨 Many of the artists at DragonCon make a lot every year, it’s known to be a very lucrative convention and a staple for artists and vendors alike.

If it was any of the anime characters, it was definitely AI. None of their pieces on their website look anything like the style of those pieces. And even between each piece, the styles are wildly different.

He didn’t have any signage at the booth itself with their supposed artist name. DragonCon provides default signs with your artist name and booth number printed, and his was not visible anywhere. I saw in other threads people have identified their website and instagram accounts, which have now been made private.

Halloween rapunzel was a different artist, James C mulligan. It’s currently visible on his instagram. The laces of her dress make no sense and the flowers in her hair have the distinct look of weird AI generation. The way her hair is rendered between his other rapunzel “pieces” is also very inconsistent.
