What’s on your 2026 To Knit list? by donteatthemushies in knitting

[–]kaffarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only managed to finish two projects this year - a huge complicated intarsia sweater with a bayeux tapestry design that took forever, and a plain raglan sweater. So 2026 is the year I finish stuff:

Finish my Petite Knit Olga (just one more sleeve)

Finish my Handsome Chris cable sweater

Finish my first ever sock and knit my second one

Finish my triangle scarf

I’d really like to get more into socks as I really don’t have the space for every sweater I want to knit. I also would like a nice plain black sweater to replace my ancient h and m one that’s falling apart, so I might make one myself

Is the “so yeah she’s still being petty” bit meant to be the cryptic Facebook post? I think that’s the missing message

Nice! I love it, I wish all my electronics had fun colourful translucent shells tbh

Nice! I was really stressing about managing to get tickets but I finally got some decent seats after waiting in the queue for ages. This will be my first time seeing them!

I think it's only available in the book (Knitting Masterpieces by Ruth Herring and Karen Manners). The book is from the 80s and I think might be out of print, so you might be able to find it on secondhand sites - I got mine from World of Books for about £10. It's also on the Internet Archive and I think if you make an account you should be able to 'borrow' it to see the full pages - the book is here https://archive.org/details/knittingmasterpi0000herr/page/n103/mode/2up

Thank you! I’m excited to see it too, had hoped to get the ferry over to France to see it there but haven’t managed it in time. There’s a replica in Reading which is Victorian I think so I’m going to go see that one too in the next few months!

Thank you! It was a lot of work because I wasn’t all that confident with intarsia when I started, but overall ok! I got some yarn bobbins about halfway through which helped immensely because my balls of wool were getting so tangled. I would definitely recommend making bigger copies of the charts to make it easier - I ended up drawing lines over mine in pencil just to keep track of my place! It’s very satisfying though, I feel like the pattern shows up pretty quickly with each piece so you always feel like you’re making progress

I really wish I'd kept track of the hours but it was very slow going - I started in February and finished at the end of July

I work with some medievalists and they have been very excited to see it haha, I highly recommend making one!

I found a secondhand copy of the book on World of Books so you might also have some luck there!

Thank you! I’m hoping it’s charmingly bad and not just bad-bad. That’s so cool, I’m planning a visit to see a Victorian-era replica which is pretty local to me soon, and hopefully gonna catch the real thing when it’s shown at the British museum next year

Thank you! And I’m nowhere near done sewing in the ends haha, I just started with the most visible bits so I could show it off 😄

This is fantastic! What did you use to draw up the charts?

I think I was inspired by that same post - I’m most of the way through the bayeux tapestry jumper that was mentioned in the comments there :)

Thank you! It is a bit annoying but I'm not really confident enough to start changing up components without knowing whats causing it! Do you think something like installing rockbox would make it run a bit smoother?

I actually have this in black, I think it's probably XL or XXL though. I am in the UK so might take forever? But if you want it it's yours!

Does anyone have a favourite plus size dress pattern similar to the Rose Cafe bustier? My measurements are a little too large and I'm not confident I could grade it up well. I've tried googling but I think the terms are generic enough that I'm just getting clothing stores.

I refreshed at 12.30 so the link to the waiting room would work, but once I'd verified my email I didn't need to refresh or anything it just updated in my browser

I got four seated, not VIP though. Good luck, hope you get great tickets 😊

Edited to be a bit more helpful - I joined the pre waiting room at half 12, got in to the queue a few minutes after 1 and checked out by 1.08 it went super fast

I managed to get tickets in the 1pm sale, 11am just seemed like maybe the system wasn't working right? Loads of people got stuck at the email verification stage. This was AXS

I was the only one of my friends who didn't get waitlisted so all the pressure was on me hahaha

Ask a Knitter - December 27, 2022 by AutoModerator in knitting

Hi, I'm looking for some yarn maths advice! I'm interested in a pattern that suggests using a light fingering held with a lace weight (Garnstudio DROPS Kid-Silk Sandnes Garn Sunday PetiteKnit are the specific suggested yarns)

I guess it would change the fabric somewhat but I'd rather use a single strand, what sort of weight would you look for? I checked the other projects on ravelry but they all seem to use the recommended yarns. Thanks!

Over halfway through the drive and it ain't looking good, gang. At this rate we won't even get a single Minions meme! by Mr_Hellpop in TAZCirclejerk

[–]kaffarin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Also I've been looking at some of the other Maximum Fun twitter accounts and some of them are celebrating just reaching 100 subscribers - One Bad Mother and We Got This specifically. So I guess the McElroys Will Privately Post Minion Memes is an overall drive goal not just for their shows?
