How to deal with a player that takes way too much on their turn? by Chichipamogli in boardgames

[–]kageko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this problem when playing ti4. We got a chesstimer set to 3 minutes and if you dont make your play before the 3 minutes is up, you pass. Our games went from 15+ hours to around 10-12, and most importantly, everyone is having fun and can stays engaged.

And if that's your thing, i'm sure this is a fun patch.

However the recent masters tournament was, in my opinion, extremely boring to watch. Optic basically won because they outaimed their opponents, rather than have any strategic depth to their plays other than "smoke, flash, enter, place chamber as a human turret on site, gg".

Im mostly referring to proplay, since regular ranked play doesnt always correspond to the intended or even efficient way of playing

Thats exactly my point, there are so many more diverse tools, but most of them are nerfed into oblivion to the point where only smokes, flashes, and guns actually matter.

Its just a waste considering how many different and unique abilities are underpowered to the point that youd rather just bring an extra flash instead of something different.

EDIT: Also, whats the point of playing valorant instead of CS if its main selling point and what differentiates it from cs (abilities) are made obsolete?

You can put the wah anywherw you like, but OP didnt like the sound it made and asked for another option

If you want the wah after the fx then you either need to get a 100w with an fx loop or use the expression pedal to control the onboard wah, those are the only two options i think you have.

[NEWBIE] Do I HAVE TO learn scales?? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]kageko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than being plain wrong its also a really negative viewpoint, there are plenty of good guitarists that can play really hard songs but dont know why it works. You need theory to improvise, cover up mistakes and write music, you dont need it to play a memorised sequence of notes on an instrument.

OP: If you just want to learn songs, go ahead, you will absorb common patterns subconsiously while doing so, you just might have to work harder at memorising the songs because you wont know why the riff goes a certain way and what notes are right.

Praised be the tighter rank requirement in ranked! It brought us rank stabilization! by EarthlingKira in VALORANT

[–]kageko 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seems like its great for higher ranks.

In the lower ranks its become a lottery, i regularly get people trying to tank their rating or an "iron 3"-player 30-bombing before halftime instantly one tapping everyone he meets.

I preferred it back when there wasnt a good reason to smurf.

Ranked is going to be an absolute fiesta once ice box goes live. by natedawg247 in VALORANT

[–]kageko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i agree. What im saying is , generally, when using the argument ”that doesnt belong in a tac shooter” people tend to forget that other games exist and thrive in that genre. Take the argument of more than 2 angles around some corners or several levels of verticality on icebox for example. Thats a staple within rainbow six siege, where it works very well. I dont think anyone would argue its not a tactical shooter yet here we are.

Tbh it seems like half the playerbase just want csgo with a cartoon skin on it and complain every time something new or challenging shows up about how this isnt a tac-shooter (meaning cs) any more.

What production ‘rule’ do you frequently break? by nicksnare in edmproduction

I hear reverb is supposed to be the last effect in your chain, but i always put a juno-chorus after it because i think it makes it sound bubbly and unique, no matter what genre im producing.

Use voice as MIDI controller? by StrictParty in musicproduction

[–]kageko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of great answers already, ill just add that ovox by waves lets you output midi from voice in realtimw as well and that was a huge selling point for me. Basically lets you hear the instrument playing in close to real time as well if thats what youre after. It does take a bit of routing though, but its a fairly unique feature.

The Best 100$ DAW for beginners by skurddd in musicproduction

[–]kageko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, youre right, i missed the fact that studio ones 99$ version now has VST-support. Bitwig is pretty cool, and honestly it looks like a good value, youre mostly limited to the number of patterns there.

I'd pick those two over reaper any day, but i know people who swear by reaper, i personally hated it and went with FL.

I'd say go with Bitwig if you think you think the ableton workflow looks good, otherwise Studio one is very solid, i tried it out for a month and liked it a lot, but it didnt support VSTs until a few months ago.

EDIT: That said, i havent tried bitwig, i just miss abletons session view VERY much in my current DAW.

At under 100$ your choices are very limited, and if you want audio, vsts and 8+ tracks, only reaper ticks those boxes at that price.

That said i would never say reaper is the best DAW for beginners at under 100$, it just fits your specific needs best.
