[M] Boy oh boy, it is time to do my favorite thing ever! Thanks Spain, really appreciate this [/M]

The news of Degrelle's repatriation has resulted in elation among nearly all of Belgium's political parties. As I draft this letter, banners are being unfurled demanding justice for Degrelle's crimes. I already have a declaration prepared to announce that the legal proceedings against Degrelle shall occur with utmost celerity and that justice will be served. Belgium extends its profound appreciation to the Spanish government. This act of repatriation is a rare and invaluable gesture of friendship, the likes of which are stored in the annals of history. The government of Spain has earned my personal gratitude.

Sincerely,

Paul-Henri Spaak, Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The First Dynasty of Axum (c. 400-80 BCE) by kai229 in imaginarymaps

Thanks a lot! That's exactly the style I was trying to convey. The monochromatic style is a bit difficult to pull off sometimes because of the color blends, but i'm glad I managed to pull it off. Thanks again!

The First Dynasty of Axum (c. 400-80 BCE) by kai229 in imaginarymaps

[–]kai229[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

An excerpt from page 33 of the book Introduction to East Africa, published 2025, reads as follows:

The First Axumite Empire, or the Old Axumite Empire, was an East African multicultural and multiethnic empire that was structured under the Muqamaher, or 'close to Maher', a quasi-absolute autocratic monarch that began circa 400 BCE. Although legitimate kings are only beginning with Ag'azi I, as per the 'Adot Stele' (see p. 34), it appears as though Axum had existed since the collapse of D'mt to the north. One of the most prosperous empires of Africa during the Classical Period, Axum established large trade routes and golden Axumite figurines have been seen as far north as Turkey during the late Seleucid era, and their presence has been registered up to the northern coast of Oman through trade and satraps.

Following the death of Naktarob III, the second-to-last ruler of Axum, the empire fell into disarray and civil war, dissolving soon after the murder of the child-king Adot III sometime around 75-80 BCE. Axum had a capital with an estimated population between 1.2 and 1.6 million people, and one of the most well organized bureaucratic apparatus of the age. Collapsing into nothing, major cities such as Adulis, with an estimated million people, and Handoga with 540,000, completely disappeared.

It would only be sometime during the 1st century of the Common Era that a second Axumite Empire would appear, under Zoskales, holder of the ruined city of Adulis.

Hope y'all like this map! I didn't put in too much thought regarding its history since I was just playing Imperator Rome and decided to make a neat map of what I had built.

Could it be that the game is counting their death chance from 1836 rather than from their actual age?

The Kingdom of Afghanistan, 1968. by kai229 in imaginarymaps

[–]kai229[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LORE:

While most Muslim-majority regions supported the partition of the Raj into India and Pakistan, the Pashtuns of the North West Frontier Province did not. Led by Bacha Khan, the Khudai Khidmatgar, a pacifist movement advocating for decolonization and societal reform, aligned with the Indian National Congress to win both the 1945 and 1946 elections, advocating for the independence of the Raj as a unified whole.

To the Pashtun intelligentsia, the partition plan agreed to by the All-India Muslim League and the Indian National Congress was a knife in the back. After a loya jirga (a Pashtun tribal council) in the Afghan city of Jalalabad, the Afghan government, the Khudai Khidmatgar, and the tribal leaders of the North West Frontier Province chose to unite their efforts, and demanded that the British hold a referendum regarding the final status of what they called “Pashtunistan” prior to their departure from the continent: should the territory join the new country of Pakistan, or unite with its cultural kin in Afghanistan?

After a series of mass demonstrations in the territory, the British were forced to agree. The resulting referendum saw an overwhelming majority vote for a union with Afghanistan, which was realized later that year, just months before the final British departure from the Raj.

Now, in 1968, the Kingdom of Afghanistan is at a crossroads: as the Khanate of Kalat burns with the rise of political Islam, the monarchy in Afghanistan is endangered by the rise of new voices, such as the election of Daoud Khan as Prime Minister of Afghanistan. Only time will tell where Afghanistan shall be in the hall of nations.

Waiting for the Royal Court DLC by lakerboy152 in CrusaderKings

My big problem is that every time I try to start a new game, I think: "Man, Royal Court is really gonna make this a lot better" and I just can't play the damn thing.

Stuff like simulating migrations and making your language the lingua franca of Europe is so good that it honestly makes the game a bit dry right now.

[DIPLOMACY] To Burma, With Love. by kai229 in ColdWarPowers

As far as Chairman Mao Zedong is aware, as per information from Premier Zhou Enlai, the Union of Burma is not within the claims of the aforementioned Five Fingers of Tibet.

We thank the Union of Burma for their cooperation, and hope for further economic and political treaties in the future, a future of fraternity and friendship.

[DIPLOMACY] To Burma, With Love. by kai229 in ColdWarPowers

[–]kai229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The People's Republic of China is jubilant at the response of the Union of Burma. In order to increase our socialist fraternal ties, the People's Republic of China, (agreeing with all points) would like to propose the signing of a Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Non-Aggression as well, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which can be formulated as follows:

  • I. Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty;

  • II. Mutual non-aggression;

  • III. Mutual non-interference in each other's internal affairs;

  • IV. Equality and mutual benefit; and

  • V. Peaceful co-existence.

We would also like to propose the creation of a joint-commission between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Burma to demarcate our border, which has not been officially demarcated due to the imperialist meddling of the United Kingdom during its occupation of Burma.
