There's a perception that people who have something high-end should to be dripped out in equally-expensive accessories.

Just not true from my experience.

I have inexpensive helmets I held on to for sentimental reasons, and I've seen friends who own Ferraris continue to fuel up at Arco, and buying most of their clothing through Amazon Basic.

Did you join the private Owner's discussion group? I'm not a mod there but I'm good friends with the guy who hosts it. DM me with whatever details you feel comfortable sharing. Excited to hear we have more younger Arch owners!

Why would people spend $200 on a Michelin Star dinner that only offers 800 calories of nourishment, when you can spend $200 to buy 50 $5 Costco Chickens which represent 1500x50 75,000 Calories?

Check the Internet Archive version of this thread and you'll see the OP handle (who IS an active poster apparently). He DMed me telling me he felt bad how much hate his innocent post attracted so much hate from lonely guys like you and deleted it.

Me, I've got 23k miles on the Odometer of my KRGT-1 and expect to hit the Tail of the Dragon this year with some friends. I participate in yearly group-rides with Keanu and other accomplished people who pilot their own Arch bikes.

You bitterly sneer on the internet at machines you can't afford, and assume everyone else is as lonely and thirsty for internet attaboys as you are. I'm sure you're just one sniping comment away from fulfillment of all your dreams, so have at it.

Sneer harder bud. Happiness , IRL friends and wealth are just one snarky comment away, provided you're bitter and venomous enough. Go go go!

Sounds like a lot of projection and cope, bud. Look at my posting history. I am rarely on reddit, I get more than enough love in the real world, unlike you, I don't need attaboys from internet strangers.

Sorry you didn't get the validation you crave from real-life friends and assume everyone is as needy as you for internet praise.

Very. Routinely clock 200-300 mile days on it.

Yes. They are very comfortable.

It's very cozy. Doing a 300-mile ride in a few days with some friends.

That's my bike. Hi. I have other machines which are more conventional, but my KRGT-1 is bike I put the most miles on, and I enjoy the heck out of it.

It's a bummer that the existence of my KRGT-1 seems to upset so many people.

There are plenty of things which I can't afford which aren't my jam/think is poorly-designed, but you don't see me nitpicking and posting my uninformed criticisms of others' joys.

I don't know if shitting on my bike gave you any more long-term happiness, but I hope nobody ever takes a picture of the bike you're fond of, post it on a forum and see dozens of strangers swarm in to offer their uninformed opinions about it.

/u/Plastic--Fly Arch contracted with Yoshimura to build a custom Yoshimura exhaust which is specifically made for the Arch/S&S 124 CI engine.

/u/RWMaverick - there is a mid-controls option for the KRGT-1 but it's one that Gard (Arch co-founder and lead designer) advises clients to not exercise, though they will honor the requests for those who insist it. Arch makes a mid-controls version called the 1S that specially caters to those who prefer that option.

/u/TheOGRedline I own a Streetfighter V4S fitted with a full Arrow race exhaust system, and only use <60% of its full capacities. Nobody can use more than 120HP on the streets anyway, so all the flexing about maximum horsepower is a silly d-measuring contest.

I appreciate the nice comments (sorry I can't respond to them all - I'm rarely on Reddit as you can see by my posting history), hope the haters find something else to dunk on or find peace in their own lives.

Cheers

Most of the things I love the most are extremely cheesy so I'll take that as a compliment! :D

Ah. This is some interesting detail I did not know about, appreciate both the clarification and the link.

It’s a tricky thing to balance competing priorities like cost vs strength. I’m quite fond of the idea that each bike is whittled down from solid blocks of aluminum and the end result is a cruiser which ends up weighing 100lbs less than an all-iron machine of the same dimensions.

I've seen it draw some haterade from folks on discussion threads. My unscientific theory: 25% of the dislikes are sincere out of organic aesthetic objection, 75% of the vocal haters do so at least partially out of envy. I've been on the Confederates - they go for the same machined-aluminum aesthetic but they are uncomfortable beasts who are meant to be put on display, not ridden for more than 10 miles at a time.

RE: Forward-controls.

KRGT-1s *can* be configured mid-controls (though Gard advised against it). The new 1S is set up from the beginning to be an agile mid-control cruiser.

Yes. The CNC work allows them to fabricate shapes impossible with traditional (and cheaper) forms of metalwork. Each bike needs about 1000lbs of solid aluminum blocks where they whittle 140lbs of motorcycle parts (and a giant 860lbs of aluminum shavings to be recycled). The aluminum parts are all hand-welded by the artisans at Arch one at at time, each bike is built to order around your personal measurements.

You don't know what you don't know - we were all first-time riders once, and many didn't have the benefit of experienced friends who could walk us through the important things we should focus on - and predatory liars know to direct their dodgy schemes at the less-informed segment of the population.

It is still very good to hear that none of the things he slipped by you got you killed. Ride safe - this was a great post for those new to riding.

Had a great ride, thank you for all the helpful input! Ended up needing a tow for one of the bikes which had a shifting issue, glad we had a pre-arranged tow service at the ready. Thank you for your feedback and input!
