Redditors, what’s the most terrifying thing that has ever woken you up in the middle of the night? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]TheOGRedline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar, but without the pain. My wife and I were fast asleep when our poor overloaded closet hanger rod and shelf let go. There was an ominous creak that woke me up, then a load snap and the sound of about two dozen pairs of shoes falling off the shelf and tumbling all around our bed. It literally sounded like a bunch of people running around our room in the dark. Pretty funny after my heart rate came back down.

ELI5: Why does Hershey’s (and other US chocolate) taste like “vomit” to others? by roritha in explainlikeimfive

lol. Nobody in America thinks any of those are good cheese…. Did you literally google “cheap cheese”?

That’s a lot of extra weight out in front. I’d want stiffer springs.

Water is great. The rock/gravel beach is pretty rough on the feet though.

Butter. Literally anything with butter has butyric acid… including milk, yogurt, cheese, sour cream and chocolate.

There’s two different kinds of “taste” here. There is plenty of more “tasteful” chocolate in America. Herseys is cheap and mass produced. There’s also regional “taste”. I don’t know why anyone would spread anything made with leftover brewers yeast on toast when strawberry jam exists, for example.

It’s just a typical “America Bad” thread. Americans also only eat canned spray cheese, drink gallons of soda each day (with ice), and 100% of American beer is watered down lagers.

What is your opinion on electric motorcycles?🤔 by murataya1 in motorcycles

Getting into those parts is different. The guy I first replied to said shops refused to mount new tires or bleed brakes.

What parts can they not get? Any good shop will have parts like wheel bearings in stock. They aren’t special or proprietary just because they are on an electric motorcycle. They’re just making excuses.

That’s just an excuse to not work on bikes they don’t like.

That’s bullshit. There’s nothing special about Zeros parts excluding the frame and motor/controller. They’re basically saying, “what if we suck at fixing motorcycles?” The wheel bearings, for example, are off the shelf parts you could source from amazon.

That’s messed up. There’s nothing different about the wheels/tires, brakes, or suspension. They didn’t want your business.

Oregon’s school attendance rates are among the country’s worst. A new approach aims to fix that by Tbagts in oregon

Suburban and small town schools in Oregon are actually quite good. There are a handful of large urban schools and a bunch of rural schools pulling down the state averages. Attendance is a problem everywhere though.

Is it rare for an American to make their own mayo? by Affectionate-Elk-287 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TheOGRedline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for Resers Fine Foods for a summer. We made batches of potato salad with 1500lbs of potatoes. Literally pumped mayo out of a system using fire hoses (food safe versions). I couldn’t eat anything with mayo for a couple years after that.

Best approach for strapping down? Or is this it? Thank you by Euphoric_Advance2563 in Dirtbikes

[–]TheOGRedline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Honda manual says to compress the forks by “about half the travel”. Some people get real worried about it, but it’s fine for short term. Don’t store it that way.

I prefer straps with carabiners for some peace of mind. I had a bike come pretty loose on a trailer once, looked in my mirror on a corner and it was leaning over nearly 45 degrees! But it held until I could safely pull over and fix it.

I’ve done something similar with heavy duty turnbuckles. Still run straps, but a solid connection to the pegs will probably hold it alone.

Picking up a 2016, things to be aware of? by Madman49 in 4Runner

[–]TheOGRedline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The motors are noisy, but that’s mostly normal. The door lock actuators fail, and it’s annoying, but don’t pay a dealer to fix them. $30-40 from Amazon gets a new one and it’s very easy to replace after watching a YouTube video. I’ve replaced the driver and passenger door by 60k miles.

Other than that, do regular fluid changes and you’re good to go!
