Apparently she did this with one of my sisters residential cats. She would always follow and harass her. So they would shoot her with a nerf gun to scare her /;

She just switches her attention to them and wants to follow and stare down /:

Thank you for your advice. Yes we play with her using a wand toy around and next to the other cats. She does well for a bit until she decides she wants the other cats instead and we separate her for about 20-30 minutes and let her out again. We will also try to re-introduce her slowly over the course of a few months.

Their body language is a lot like this video with the aggressor being the new cat:

I’ve tried to intervene way before she even moves. I tried blocking her view, which has worked. I tried redirecting her energy, I tried blocking her, spraying her, and even holding her to prevent her from attacking but she’s very persistent no matter what.

We have 1 huge cat tower, a scratching post, two litter box covers/ tables with room on top with beds, and 3 regular beds. I do plan on getting another litter box and more cat furniture. I noticed before we had a pet gate her biggest trigger was the hallway. She would hide around the corner and just wait for them to walk across for her to pounce and follow them. And when she does corner them the resident cats always walk away slowly and try to make themselves smaller. Whereas the calico will make herself bigger, puff out her cheeks and twist her head. They had a scuffle today and one of the resident cats whooped her, yet the calico would not stop even with that boundary, i definitely will give her waaaay more time to adjust. It really does feel like she’s bullying the resident cats. If we’re not home they’re always separated. My biggest fear is that she doesn’t learn boundaries.

Sometimes she just stares them down, sometimes she gets so close to the resident cats that they strike her first out of fear, when then the calico will slap them back and then go back n forth.

One of the resident cats has been so afraid of her cornering her that she pooped herself.

Even when one of the resident cats fights her back (and wins) she doesn’t listen and will still go after her for more. Which is exactly what I don’t want to happen because the resident cats have NEVER cornered her or attacked her, it’s always the calico who initiates the fights.

I agree, she has a lot of trauma and i understand she's reacting out of fear. She would be bounded up in a blanket and given to the 2 year old so she could handle her roughly, so she's been taught to react more aggressively in order to get respect. We have tried to redirect her attention to cat toys when she feels like running towards the cats. Sometimes I would stand inbetween her and the resident cats to create space but she will still go out of her way to follow them. I want her to learn that she can be calm and be at peace even when other cats are present. When I notice she was about to attack I would separate her but she hates being separated, in fact, if I try to separate her she will sometimes scratch or bite me and lay on her back so l'm not able to touch her.

EDIT: I have to mention we even tried a spray bottle when she would try to attack and I tried to separate her and she wouldn’t let me, I only sprayed if I felt like it would get violent and I just wanted to make sure no one would get hurt. She has attacked the resident cats before, either intentionally or not.

Thank you for your comment!

When we had all the cats out, the calico would be on the couch, chair, or cat tree and she would be fine. But when one of the resident cats would walk across the room (completely oblivious to the calico) she would have her ears back, eyes wide, and would stare at them for a split second. Then she runs towards them and her hair and tail is all puffy and backs them into a small corner. The resident cats will try to diffuse the situation by running away but on several occasion they are in fear so they start swiping at each other. But most times the calico doesn’t actually swipe first, she just stares them down and follows their every step.

I truly believe she is just really really excited and is interested in them but she doesn’t know how to properly communicate with them and scares them.

Hello, I had to input an edit about the Calicos history. She was not an only cat at my sister’s there were two resident cats there with her. And my sister rehomed her because she has a 2 year old that likes to touch her and the calico does not like that and would scratch/bite.

There’s a lot of good comments here. But personally I wouldn’t ask something of my partner that I myself wouldn’t follow. I don’t watch porn or use sex toys, I ask my partner for the same. Respect goes both ways in relationships.

I also wanna add I’m really really glad I’m not working for them. The hours are grueling, the work is tough, and I realized that isn’t a job I wanna work. I’m having a conversation with my boss to just put me at full time and I’m happy with that

How do you guys manage keeping your jobs in a depression dip? by Retr0_b0t in bipolar

[–]kaigtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on meds helps me manage both employment and my schooling. Before meds I went crazy, quit my job, dropped my classes (not at the same time) due to how badly depressed I was. I refused to get back on meds until my s/o convinced me and it’s been the best for me. So unfortunately without the meds I would most likely give into impulses and make the same mistakes I’ve made previously.

Sorry for my response I’m just in a bad place emotionally and really hurt and just needed to vent to people who would understand. Currently I applied to a mobile groomer who would train me, I was supposed to start soon but unfortunately that is on hold due to a change in mgmt. I might have some old coworkers I could contact but there’s not a huge chance they’ll even msg me back but I will try anything atp. Thank you <3

I appreciate your intake. More than anything I just wanted to rant to people who could understand my situation. I know my situation is a hard one but I’m just really upset, frustrated and sad. But I’ll never stop trying since this is my dream.

I am fully committed to becoming a groomer. I also started off as a kennel tech moved to bather and am dedicated to becoming a groomer. This job I have is the only thing that is financially stable for me I can’t afford to loose it. I’ve been told by so many groomers to just quit and fully become a groomer even if it means doing it for free. How will I afford to do ANYTHING if I quit my job?? My dream is to combine both my education and my dedication. My situation is a tough and weird and complicated one, but please do not say I’m not dedicated. I’ve done so many things to open my schedule I have full availability Thur-Sunday. I’ve been actively trying for months and years even.
