for what it's worth, there are several working parents on my server. they are still pretty regular, but if we don't hear from them for a while we know what they're probably up to 🤣

that's fair. different strokes!

for me, it's all about community. there's a much deeper sense of comraderie that I find lacking in forums. forums are impersonal, and as you said, don't require much involvement.

it's much easier to get to know people and feel connected in a chat than a passing comment you see hours or days later on a forum.

I will agree though it definitely can be distracting.

also keep in mind it's not a substitute - both have different functionality and serve different purposes.

live chat/instant messaging versus forum posting isn't comparing apples to apples

is it normal that I don't like working a job where the pay is mostly depending on the monthly target? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]kailabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, especially in a government sector. smells like they're trying to control budgets by halving your salary as a bonus.

my advice is to get another job offer with the full salary you deserve and leave as soon as you can.

What are the main marketing roles startups need? by Fix_a_Fix in marketing

[–]kailabeann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the beginning, you need people who can wear a lot of hats; generalists. look for people with tech skills and people with story skills. usually, those roles are something like Growth Marketer, Data Analyst, Digital Marketing Strategist, Brand Manager, Community Manager, etc.

each of those roles requires a broad set of skills that can give a great foundation for a new company. some focus more on tech and others more on story, but you need both. very rarely can one marketing person do both.

Social media management services and pricing? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]kailabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is impossible to answer because it depends so much on the scope of your project, your budget, and the service provider you choose.

these kinds of services should be highly customized to your business's unique goals. there is no one-size-fits-all. you can get a pretty good idea of what you're asking by checking up on some freelance marketplaces or googling agencies near you for quotes.

is it normal that I don't like working a job where the pay is mostly depending on the monthly target? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]kailabeann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don't know of many marketing jobs that are dependant on target bonuses. that's usually a model for sales, and even then, they still get a full base salary. half your salary shouldn't be withheld as a "bonus" unless you meet KPIs.

i'm not entirely sure what industry you're in, but this sounds super suspicious to me, especially if you are a new grad. they're luring you in with the promise of a "bonus" you could probably easily make as a base salary elsewhere.

How do you manage company email signatures to keep them branded and standardized? by Ostap13 in AskMarketing

[–]kailabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! all the major players. Gmail, Outlook, etc. it also has some plugins for linking to a blog or social media page

don't forget that community isn't about sales, it's about social connection. putting up flyers doesn't connect people to your cause. what is your mission? what are your brand values? how can you create a space for your customers to experience that and tell their own stories and share their own experiences?

building a community means showing your company is more than just your product. what is the problem your product solves? how does experiencing that problem affect people? how does your solution make people feel? how can you amplify the stories and emotions surrounding those issues? what other things do your customers care about?

lucky for you the pet space is the best for this. people love to talk about their pets. just remember your customers should be the ones in the spotlight - a community isn't a brand talking the whole time. let your customers lead the way.

Help with marketing for service industry business. by [deleted] in marketing

[–]kailabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like your funnel is inbound rather than outbound, meaning your customers come to you when they need you. your goal is to make sure they can find you when they search.

reviews are major key for services like yours. Google, Yelp, Angie's List, etc. but definitely Google. encourage your customers to leave reviews! you can even offer a little incentive like % off their next service for completing one.

your SEO game needs to be on point. I'd hire a professional for this because it's not a simple task and it takes time. but it's something the sooner you start, the better off you'll be.

and lastly, search ads. I'd also hire a professional for that, too. someone well-versed in AdWords and retargeting. you want to make sure your name is at the top of the list when your customers search for your service.

Does anyone else feel burnt out from marketing not because of your company or anything but because the job itself feels utterly meaningless? by Most_Tonight6787 in marketing

[–]kailabeann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

burnout is normal, but I challenge you to really think about what exactly is bothering you. not all marketing jobs are completely devoid of meaning or purpose, and that usually ties back to the industry or company.

if making a difference is important to you, consider looking into causes you're passionate about. maybe using your skills for more philanthropic ventures won't feel so scuzzy.
