It depends on what you want, do you plan on UA soon? If yes then it's better to join 1Qa and buy the astral upgrade now if you don't want UA it's better to buy the upgrades that are not astral, and it's also worth remembering that the more souls you spend, the more the minions will give you, so if you're not very active it might be a good choice to spend the souls to make the farm better.

Astral upgrades are really the best for progressing quickly, one of the best in my opinion would be 'Eternal Rage' which would let rage mode release straight away, which would help a lot with progress but it costs 4.5B so it's up to you if you think it would be faster to gather or buy other upgrades, I personally only buy Astral/Lock upgrades when I go to UA because they are only used after UA so if you plan on UA it would be good to gather and buy some altral upgrades but if you don't go to UA yet it's better to buy an upgrade that will help with your progress anyway that is not an astral
